Nice scoreboard from RTÉ, matches with the host graphics perfectly.
Speaking of host graphics, they look like they were made by the same team who do Champs League for UEFA, any word if it's the same house? Also was ITV using the general match graphics or did they get an overlay?

RTÉ haven't bothered doing their own opening titles this time around either, they're just using the official FIFA ones.

ITV should have their live football coverage rights taken away from them, as punishment for this latest dreadful error. On July 12th I shall be watching the final on BBC 1 as usual, and if England get to the semi-final stage then I shall like most people watch BBC 1. ITV's football coverage is like watching paint dry.

The problem with errors like today's is that many people will think the sane way, even though in my view the ITV Footage is superior this year content & presentation wise.

Adrian's a class act - though appears much more nervous than on the BBC, and doesn't have a way of getting into breaks seamlessly. Gareth Southgate very good I think. Not a fan of Gabriel - he always looks a bit out of place.

Studio is not good - far, far too busy. It's likey they had an idea, then another one, then another one, and just didn't know when to stop. The table is really OTT. Graphics are too fussy and a bit tacky - but then there is no real ITV Sport house style.

The HD feed seemed to be a having a few issues (unrelated to the sponsorship bumper) - there was some nasty frame dropping/repetition that meant movement juddered on occasion.

I noticed similar on SD in the pub - I assume it was via DSat (Sky).

There is, or at least was. Very plain though.

Indeed it does. It's been around since the 2006 rebrand if the network, but seems to have been messed with in recent years. They could do with creating a new version, or revamping this original design as the concept is not bad, it's just a bit flat.

See here for an example, this shows how it was supposed to be utilised, although of course they wouldn't have actually used it within F1 race footage.

As for the ITV world cup studio, I quite like it. The markings on the floor fit well with the titles & graphics. The table may contain many pieces, but it creates a nice design. The only thong that I believe lets it down is the fact that the red frames in the background constantly have gold versions of the three lions.

The thing I feel sorry for ITV for is that this happened during an England match on a Saturday evening with a large audience. Out of all the games that they will be airing & all of the goals, it had to be anEngland match, and England's first goal of the tournamant.

The BBC having a sympathy breakdown very similar to ITV's just then - though they managed theirs at half time, with sound lost and a promo still for MOTD2 flashing on and off screen.

Also now I've seen their studio in daylight, why on earth shell out for a view of Table Top mountain and then stick a bloody big pillar obscuring the centre of it!

Watching this year's games in Korea on SBS, where they had a trouble over broadcasting rights with other terrestrial broadcasters.

Anyway, I found one surprise. Previously, broadcasters covered English graphics with Korean language ones. But this year, it's not substitution. It appears directly in Korean.

Not that similar - the still for MOTD2 was meant to be there, and was done live from the studio in South Africa, but it looked like there was an uplink or similar comms problem and it froze on that image. ITVs problem was a cock up in presentation.

Well funilly enough ITV got it's highest ever HD rating - 1.2m ( and that's just the average for the whole show i believe, likely to be higher for just the game) and it's also reported that because of pubs etc, 4 million missed the goal! Shocked

STV's ad break just failed on SD and HD so we got a nice slide for the duration.

Shhhh! Don't tell the advertisers.

What kind of slide? An STV one? Was it an STV HD one on HD?
