I'm not too sure if this 'revival' is going to materialise in the way some hope it will.

I for one would love it, but until ITV dramatically reduce the hours given to cheap, sleazy, celebrity-obsessed programming we have become all too familiar with, I will not believe it.

As Challenge themselves say, the 80s and 90s were when Ssturdays were "fun, fun, fun - not dumb, dumb, dumb".

Just because ITV aren't the only ones at it doesn't make it any less of a tired and over-used gimmick.

First they replace general entertainment with "people" programmes in the 80s, then these mutate into the reality TV strands we all love Rolling Eyes so much, then finally someone has the bright spark idea of putting "celebs" into reality programmes -- the same celebs in most cases they sacked in the first place to bring in the people shows.

So we have the frankly ludicrous situation of so-called talent being paid to be members of the public.

The lunatics have taken over the asylum. One day people will get bored of this rubbish and we might get some real TV back, but I'm not holding my breath.

I actually like the idea of this. Cilla and Barrymore to present live in front of a studio audience who cheer the stories they like and provide 'Ooh's for those more controversial.
