Maybe this means ITV will be making their own version of Takeshi's Castle Laughing

IMO this is simply great news.

I thought to myself recently, everything seemed so much better in the 90's, even though I was a very young lad back then. I doubt how true that is, so it's probably nostalgia, for all the positives I remember.

Can't remember the last time I made sure to watch a certain programme, save for Doctor Who (despite the fact I've not seen any episodes from before 2005!); once again I have to say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it; newer isn't necessarily better and I welcome the idea of going back to classic formats Smile

Is that not just reference to the revival of Family Fortunes?

Well I know of Family Fortunes & Bullseye returning! Who knows what they might bring back as well. Aside from quizzes, there's also the return of This Is Your Life.

If Family Fortunes and Bullseye do return - PLEASE leave Ant and Dec out of them. As much as I like the Geordie duo, I think its time for a change. Rolling Eyes

My top 5 request list (excluding Bullseye):

5: Beadles About - Jeremy Beadle
4: Krypton Factor - Gordon Burns
3: My Kind Of Music - Micheal Barrymore
2: You Bet - Matthew Kelly
1: Strike It Lucky - Micheal Barrymore

Beadles About is long overdue a return but unfortunately we've had so many other hidden camera shows such as Trigger Happy TV etc that have pushed Beadle overboard.

But a hidden camera show featuring the general public is needed.

I personally enjoyed the "Generation Fame" programme over Xmas with Graham Norton. I think the Gen Game format still has much to offer and I'd love to see it back. The current obsession with Celebrity is getting on my nerves though - there's a place for Joe Public on gameshows - they can be equally as funny and appealing to the viewers and celebrities (see the above post about the hapless short-sighted guest on Strike it Lucky - I'd forgotten that - very funny!)

So, having failed to create new ideas that work, they're going back to flogging dead horses and ruining all your good memories of average gameshows.

Sounds like a real winner.

There's nothing new in television!

Even Chris Evans has made a (semi)come-back! - which was classic 90's T.V.

I'd actually like to see some original ideas this year, but if we're talking comebacks it be The Crystal Maze - and I don't think they'd need to tweak the format too much for it to work!

So who or what has returned or is returning to the limelight so far then...

Sir Terry Wogan returning to his chat show (in regards to the Wogan: Now and Then show on UKTV Gold)

Michael Barrymore (Celebrity Big Brother)

Chris Evans (OFI Sunday/Radio 2/The Brits)

Cilla Black ( Soapstar Superstar)

Noel Edmonds (Deal or No Deal)

Torvill and Dean

Bullseye*

Family Fortunes*

Phil and Grant Mitchell (Steve and Ross return to EastEnders)

Take That (comeback tour)

Brian Conley (some new Drama on BBC1)

The Paul Daniels Magic Show (returns to BBC Saturday nights) - ok, I made that one up! Laughing

What is this facination with dragging up old shows from 20 years ago? After 60 years of TV are they trying to say that we have reached the limits of creativity of the human mind?

If they carry on we will end up with a Saturday night on BBC ONE/ITV1 being identical to UKTV Gold or ITV3/4 Confused

As for bringing back Barrymore Confused , well he was funny in his time, but he's damaged goods now. Frankly I am shocked Shocked that Endemol have not so much "scraped the bottom of the barrel" for CBB this year as gone underneath it for Z-list wannabees Evil or Very Mad
