I quite like the Carry On films and I don't consider myself to be a bitter person! What an odd thing to say Banks...

So Emmerdale has beat EastEnders without them clashing. Of course it's only because EastEnders is never on a Wednesday. Corrie did really well for the 8.30pm slot, and Emmerdale is picking up viewers now, hopefully this storyline will keep them watching.

Emmerdale is doing well considering loads of people missed the episode when Tom King actually died on Christmas Day

ITV News at 6.45 is doing very well also

Emmerdale probably benefited from being moved into Corrie's slot, although to be fair it's been doing very well in the 7pm slot this past week anyway.

Looking at Corrie's ratings though, ITV won't be moving it anytime soon. Rather embarrassing that it was beaten by both EastEnders and Emmerdale.

Although I'm not surprised. ITV didn't advertise the schedule change at all. You would have thought they would have reminded viewers about Corrie when Emmerdale was on but they didn't. With that in mind, it did quite well considering.

ITV News probably also benefited from being against High School Musical which did a lot worse than I expected.

Emmerdale beats Corrie - so moving the show to 8.30pm HAS backfired on them then.

According to UTV:

Quote:
UTV WINS CHRISTMAS RATINGS IN NORTHERN IRELAND

UTV has bucked the national trends for Christmas Day this year. While the ITV network at 29.5% in peak was beaten nationally by BBC1 with 38.9%, in Northern Ireland the opposite was the case, with UTV securing 42.5% of peak and BBC NI 25.4%.

And again, while nationally, Eastenders won the soaps’ war on the day with a 44% audience share compared to 31% for Emmerdale and 40% for Coronation Street, it was well and truly beaten in Northern Ireland as Coronation Street took a 60% share, followed by Emmerdale with 55% and Eastenders in third place with 41%.

And on Boxing Day, while nationally the BBC’s Eastenders took a 40% share against ITV’s Emmerdale at 35% - in Northern Ireland UTV beat the BBC by securing 54% with Emmerdale, against 49% for Eastenders.

Michael Wilson, Head of Television said: “UTV would like to thank our viewers for once again making us their first choice for TV viewing in Northern Ireland. And we look forward to offering more top rating entertainment in 2007."

Oh,Good Ratings For EastEnders there.I don't understand why the soap timings have been moved around for though

They move them because ITV probabaly thought they would try to get people back to ITV after EE by showing Corrie. Yet again they are using Corrie's popularity to prop up their other programmes.

But as we know it backfired badly as Corrie got less than Em so I hope they wont do it again. Wink
