Can anyone remember from the 2000 Today programme when Gaby Roslin said 'Over to the news desk, and Peter Sissons'
The Headline bed played and there was a long zoom into Peter Sissons.
He was shuffling a load of sheets around, looked confused and said 'I'm sure it isn't me, isn't the news in five minutes' - or somewhere along those lines!
Yes I can remember it but lickily for them there wasnt too many mistakes afterall anything could go wrong on a 24 hour live brodcast like that
Did you watch the whole programme
I was quite suprised the BBC only did a 24 hour broadcast.
Sky was 42 hours, and CNN did over 100, so considering it was being shown around the world, it should have been a little longer.
JA
jae
But the BBC did have Gaby Roslin and Michael Parkinson - who stayed awake for 24 hours!!

Why is it no matter what the subject is you always sneak in a little comment about wondefull SKY News, this topic hasnt even anything to do with who covered what and for how long but you (cheshirec) have always got to put in your remarks on your dislike towards BBC News
No, I did not critisise them, any Martin, just remind me once again what your signature says! Who the hell are you to talk about critisising!
And that is a perfectly valid point, I did not say Sky was great, I did not say CNN was great, I simply said that it was suprising that considering other international broadcasters did very long shows, it is suprising that 2000 Today was only 24 hours.
And for your information Martin, the word Sky is not captialised.
And as I am aware 2000 Today was not maanged by BBC News, it was simply featuring BBC News in it, the actual thing was just a BBC production, not a BBC News production.

My signature is irrelevant as anyone elses to the subject and as is your comments on SKY (CAPS LOCK)
Well I would disagree, the fact is you have a go at Sky in EVERY thread, I only attack the Beeb when it is relevant, and I wasn't even having a go at them before.

I don't see any purpose in the BBC broadcasting the millennium celebrations for more than 24 hours. Remember, BBC One have other programmes to put into the schedule too, whilst Sky News were desperately trying to squeeze every last minute of the occasion out of it until you got completely sick of it and the millennium became a big bore. The BBC show was the correct length, informative and entertaining, a fabulous achievement.
