I'm producing a documentary for Carlton about 20 years of Central News.  It's for transmission in the New Year.  There are some obvious landmark events (change from ATV,  start of Nottingham and Abingdon services etc),  key personalities and important news stories.
We obviously have a fund of knowledge, opinions and memories to tap into here, but we're also close to the subject!
I'd like to access the wealth of knowledge on this forum and ask: what do you think should be included in the programme?  What are the key moments for you, and is there any footage that you might have that would help?
If you have any opinions, nuggets of information or potentially useful material, please get in touch with me through this forum, or you can email me direct at:  frazersheppard@carltontv.co.uk

Hi, welcome to the forum! I think some of the many mistakes and mishaps from Central News would be good to see!

Hi
I think something on Bob warman would be good since he's been there from the start.
I was pleased to see that that your from from the west. Congrats on the new look, it's a VAST improvement on the old one with two presenters back on the helm(on it got rid of the Carlton star)

Show us how the programmes have progressed by showing off the virtual studio used for the small studio - it was mentioned on this forum only a couple of weeks ago about it all being virtual.

It would be good to see how the programmes have changed over the years. Maybe a 'montage' of the titles at the end of the programme would be nice.

No No No. It wouldn't be Central News West without Ms Malin's unique fashion sense. I think a special collection of all of her best clobber would be lovely, bar one or two of the more revealing items seen back in 1998.

Anything really, as long as there is not a single mention of Anne Diamond.

I think you should include

- contributions from anchors of the three regions (Bob Warman, Marie Ashby, Llewela Bailey, Jonathan Ray, Joanne Malin, Wesley Smith, Anne Dawson etc.)

- studios and graphics of times past

- bloomers (Marie and Llewela's classic from March 2001, where Keith Daniel wasn't on the sofa ready to give sports news in time etc.)

Central News is certainly one of the best regional news shows around.

Carlton should bring back the Central on screen continuity branding.

Yes I think it would be good to see the changes in Central News in the last 20 years. Living in an area where we can recieve all 3 of the Central News variations, I have seen some good and some bad ones over the years.
