I was aware that two written representations already existed for most pieces of music, in the form of their notation and title.
So there.
By "notation", I take it you mean musical notes (crotchet, quaver, semi-quaver, etc.) on a musical stave?
No doubt ATV, HTV, Westward, Southern, TVS, TSW, Thames LWT, Anglia et al had their jingles done out as musical notes on manuscript paper (musical staves). My written representations though are with letter sounds, handy if you are unable to read music score notation. Recited properly, my written representations of TV ident jingles do sound close to the real thing.
Well I challenge someone to write out dictionary style definitions of "BoogieBeebieitis" and "Tumbletowertitis".
Alright then, I'll play your silly game. Look, I've even marked out the syllables.

n. Internet slang.
1. a rare condition caused by attempting to simeltaneously browse the Internet sites TV Forum and Digital Spy while truncating television channel names into two or three letter (allegedly logical) abbreviations; symptoms include: obsession for expressing television jingles' and theme tunes' notation using phonetic syllables with no directly implied melody; channel name truncation becoming an obsessive compulsive disorder; arrogance; the onset of boogiebeebieitis; denial of both conditions despite self-knowledge that they are affected.
Don't make me bring out the HTV attack.
What on Earth has Harlech Television (HTV) got to do with Tumbletowertitis saturdaymorning?

How can writing for example "duuuur (bibble-de-bobbly-bubble-bibble-bobble) dee-duuuuuurrrr (bibble bobble) dur-deh-dih-deeeee (bibble-bobbly-bobble-bublle) dur-dur-duuuurrrr (bibbl-di-bobble-de-bubble-di-beble etc)" (Tyne Tees ident, 1979, sorry couldn't resist!) be credited as Tumbleritis or whatever it is?
My good mate* Andrew "Bods" Bowden did this a decade ago!
That's very educational, don't cheat on your girlfriend, or he shouts at you. Even when he hasn't heard that your girlfriend has had another man for 2 years and you've only had another woman for 2 weeks!
10 years ago today:
Sunday 31 August 1997
was the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. There's been no escaping that today, we've constantly been reminded of it.
But wind back 20 years, what can I say? The date:
Monday 31 August 1987
. I've just checked out Wikipedia, there was nothing significant to have stood the test of time.
There is one memorable event for ME that day though. Monday 31 August 1987 was the August Bank Holiday for that year (UK except Scotland). I was 15 (about a month short of my 16th birthday to be precise). That day I went with my family to Weston-super-Mare. We spent an hour or so in the town centre to start with, then around midday went into Tropicana - a leisure centre on the sea front. That was my first ever visit to Tropicana, and thoroughly enjoyed the Surf Pool (an open air swimming pool with wave machine) and the two green water slides. Well at least I swam in the pool and had umpteen goes on the two water slides, the rest of my family simply sat in deck and watched me. We stayed in until around 5pm and then went home. Altogther that was a mega fun afternoon at Tropicana, Weston-super-Mare, and for me turned out to be my highlight of 1987.
For your information, Tropicana closed down in September 2000. The site was to be redeveloped with a glazed roof, so presumably the pool could then be used all year round. Come March 2002, I saw a report on Points West saying nothing had been done, the only beneficiaries of the Surf Pool were some ducks swimming on it. I was surprised the pool hadn't been drained prior to disuse. I've not heard any more on the matter since. Does anyone from Weston-super-Mare know what's happened to that building on the sea front in the last five years?
actully i do believe the banks are shut aswell on that Bank hoilday, its just eveyone else Does not get it off, as the school just go back a weeek ealier.

I remember the Di incident clearly. But 20 years ago. I haven't a clue.
Was prob getting ready for college, but much of those years passed by in a blur.
