was this the point it moved to C4 or when it became C4 schools rather than ITV schools?
This was when it moved to C4 and became "ITV Schools on C4". I dont really remember a lot about ITV Schools when they were on ITV itself, just the trailers saying from 14th Sept 1987 they would be on C4. We had the fab countdown clock and music during the ITV Schools on C4 era. The presentation became crap IMO when they became C4 schools in 1993.
I'm sure you're correct there Hyma. IIRC Schools was broadcast on C4 from about 1983, but retained the name "ITV Schools" until 1987.
I think you're confusing the issue with BBC schools programmes moving from BBC1 to BBC2, which happened earlier in the 80's. ITV Schools was on ITV up until 1987, it then moved to C4 but continued to be operated by ITV (and be branded as such) until the end of 1992 when C4 went it alone. However, in order to avoid confusion by changing brand partway through an academic year, the 'ITV Schools' brand lived on right up until July 1993, with C4 Schools launching in September 1993.
The last months from January-July 93 however weren't the same - the 'rotomotion' holding device was gone, commercials were introduced between programmes, and the iconic 60 second countdown was truncated into a nasty 40 second edit.

I'm about the same. I vaguely remember the last year of ITV Schools on ITV (mainly from the criss-cross design of all the interval cards), but I grew up firmly in the brave new world of ITV Schools on 4. Duh-dih-dah-duh-duh-duh-duh-dih-dah...

Consult a general practitioner immediately, you appear to have been infected with Tumbletowertitis.
