TVS were one of the stations that rejected the generic ITV idents introduced in 1989. The thread is about whether or not TVS used the ident at all on screen (namely, before News at Ten).
I see. No, I never saw that animation on-air either and I've lived in the area all my life (And I have always been a viewer of ITV's News at Ten).
Can you give link to what you're actually talking about. I don't understand this thread at all I'm afraid.

Were TVS still using a clock then? All the clips I've seen suggest that they abandoned the practice in '89 - at around the same time that the station became "TVS Television".
It may have been until 1990 then, but they were definitely using a clock as "TVS Television" in December 1989:

I should have used a search term that actually *didn't* include "TVS", there... Thanks, Whataday.
Staying on the subject of clocks, am I right or wrong in thinking that of the companies that did take the generic look, only Yorkshire and LWT used the accompanying clock?
Thames superimposed their existing clock over a blank ITV slide; Tyne Tees tried to do the same but the finished product never made it to air. Border simply plonked the ITV logo beside their existing clock (below), while HTV and Grampian didn't bother changing their clocks at all. (Don't know what Scottish did, hence why I'm asking if I'm right *or wrong*.

Not hard to see why the generic clock was even less popular than the idents - it wasn't the best-designed clock in the world, with no hour markers and an hour hand almost as long as the minute hand. Even Yorkshire stopped using it before they dropped the look in '94, although they used the same hands on subsequent clocks (with hour markers).

TVS never used that ident on air, and News at Ten was preceded by a TVS clock until 1991.

HTV continued to use this clock:

They would generally play the generic ident then bring on the clock with a dodgy "clock sweep" transition.

STV had the following clock: change colour in 1993 - 1996 period
Of course its version was crap aswell but still went out on air at times ( blink and you would have misted it)

I have seen ( from a new deleted video) this ident going into an episode of Homes james.
Maybe it would have worked better if it was just the full logo ie like Yorkshire did in 1991? then it could have spinned out ot the front?

I have a vague memory of seeing it used once, on a Sunday morning before Morning Worship... which I'm guessing was coming from NI.
UTV never used their version of the 1989 ITV generic ident.
The station clock was most commonly used in the junction into NaT, otherwise you'd get a programme menu or, particularly in the late 1990s, a trailer.
The only time the generic ident music was ever heard by NI viewers was on the intro sequence to the ITV National Weather between c. March 1990 and c. March 1993.

Interestingly, the first Morning Worship of September 1989 came from NI; to be precise, that city in the North West where I and at least two others on here are from...

I wonder how much of the clock choice was down to which regions had the right kit to generate it?
