There seems to be talk the ITV 1989 ident was in fact used by TVS for News at Ten. ( over on PP) Can any of the new or old member ever remember TVS using it? It's also possible then Anglia, Channel Television, TSW and Ulster could have taken the ident but were like meh and only used it for certain programmes etc Ie if you blinked you would have missed it... It was never totally clear if STV did drop the ident in 1989 and infact kept on using it at random spots in early 1990.

Can you give link to what you're actually talking about. I don't understand this thread at all I'm afraid.
Wow - was living in the TVS region at the time and don't remember that at all (Though that doesn't mean it wasn't used) I really only remember the cut glass logo that stayed in that form - but my memory may well be wrong. (There were some ITV companies that didn't use the full corporate+regional 'V' branding weren't there)
UTV never used their version of the 1989 ITV generic ident.
The station clock was most commonly used in the junction into NaT, otherwise you'd get a programme menu or, particularly in the late 1990s, a trailer.
The only time the generic ident music was ever heard by NI viewers was on the intro sequence to the ITV National Weather between c. March 1990 and c. March 1993.
TVS never used that ident on air, and News at Ten was preceded by a TVS clock until 1991.
Were TVS still using a clock then? All the clips I've seen suggest that they abandoned the practice in '89 - at around the same time that the station became "TVS Television".

It may have been until 1990 then, but they were definitely using a clock as "TVS Television" in December 1989:

TVS were one of the stations that rejected the generic ITV idents introduced in 1989. The thread is about whether or not TVS used the ident at all on screen (namely, before News at Ten).
The regions that rejected the generic mostly had good excuses. TVS's is that the flower logo was completely absent. Anglia had the triangles in the wrong colours. Granada had the line missing between the arrowhead and the top of the G in the V segment. TSW and Ulster's logos were mangled too, and both of those were still using IVC so it wouldn't have been used much anyway.
Apparently the logo implemented into the generic TVS ident was reminiscent of TVS Enetertainment logo at the time, which I don't think was ever used on screen.
