What form would a shotgun marriage take? Would the "Southern" side take care of the south while the "TVS" side would broadcast from the south east?

It would be a company owned by both parties, in the same way that the ITA put ABC and Redifussion together to form Thames and two bidding companies together to form Yorkshire.

The "Southern" side of the new company might have done a lot of grumbling.

If anything TVS treated the franchise as a cash cow to fund their ambitions, and we all know how that finished. In my opinion Southern knew it's audience very well, and despite the cynics served it well. But it is just my opinion.

I don't think it's fair to compare the two because they were from two very different eras (in terms of the South of England). Also in terms of the industry, it made sense for TVS to invest its (substantially higher than Southern) profits in other businesses. Consider it was the dawn of satellite television and such like. Many were saying ITV would become less important in time.

Looks like DC have "borrowed" it for Cyborg, a member of the Justice League. Smile
