It makes me wonder if thats the real reason take the high road was dropped in 93.
I just cant beleive city people got it right in the advertisement revenue. Of course htv only got away because of flextech.

But High Road was only dropped from the network, not axed, wasn't it? Wikipedia says it ended in 2003.
Network centre dropped the series so ITV no longer paid for it. STV decide to keep making itself, but a number of other ITV companies kept the series going.

You could email Bournemouth uni ? ( I would NEED to double check) who looks after the IBA archive. Its mainly for students etc but if you ask very nicely there might be able to help with certain of information. I must warn you, it would need to be highly pin point.

I shall enquire with them.
I will also ask if they have the logo for Vayglen / Cresset Television. A very obscure applicant for the south and south east. There is almost nothing on the internet about them.

Welcome to this pilot online resource which is available for students and staff at Bournemouth University and also for visiting researchers. We hope that anyone with an interest in the historical development of television and radio in the UK will want to use this very large and hitherto underused collection and we welcome not only our own students but in particular the growing body of UK and international researchers studying the history of broadcasting.

Some interesting stuff there, particularly that about simulated or fictitious newscasts - "The lessons to be learnt ... are being further considered ... examination may well show there are no sufficient precautions that can remove the dangers of simulated news announcements of this kind and that television programmes, whatever safeguards are introduced, are better without them."
Pity they haven't added anything new since June 2015 to the website, but then I suppose its only a taster, who knows what gems are in there?

You are assuming that the applicants all had logos, and of course in the case of most franchise winners if they included one in their application it usually wasn't the one they ended up on air with

Remember also that some successful franchise applicants got to air with a different name altogether, so logoing at applicant stage would have been fraught with risk.
SP
Case in point (albeit from a later franchise round); GMTV was Sunrise Television during the franchise bidding process
