When ITV schools were on, in the 1970s, there was a 30 minute interval, 10:30 - 11:00, when schools programmes were suspended, to allow regions to opt out, and show their own slides. The ITV network was sued in this period to allow last minute adverts to be sent to all the contractors.
A few questions.
When did the practice of a 30 minute interval end?
Why couldn't other means be used to distribute commercials?
When schools programming wasn't on, such as during school holidays, what happened then?
And lastly, if you're reading this Tony Currie, you may know, on Sub-tv.co.uk there is a photo of an STV interval slide. It has the STV logo of the 1970s, and the word interval on it. Was this sued during the schools 30 minute interval, and did announcers say anything beforehand?
