Continuity from David Allan over a programme lineup menu, on BBC2, in 2012.
That's not bad going, is it, people?
Liking the Dad's Army slide as well.

Well said Paul, I'm loving it. I had the honour to meet David this week, a legendary voice and a good guy too

Indeed, a continuity legend; one of the defining voices of classic BBC Television. Quite possibly my favourite announcer of all time...
....Present company excepted, of course!

I've noticed that the programmes on BBC2 during this evening's 70s night are being introduced with the early 70s BBC2 Colour ident.
I'm surprised they're using the same one for every programme. Can't they use the stripy 2 (circa 1974 to 1978) for some programmes, and the =======2========= electronic ident that was introduced late 70s for one programme?

Ha ha. Don't worry, no egos here. I agree with you

Really like the use of the programme slides tonight. Nice to see the various stills accompanying the announcements.
Particularly, the difference in pace it lends to the junctions; it makes a noticeable change.
Especially the order of:
' Trail => Slide for later programme => Symbol '
which really seems to fit.

Just lovely. I swear I'm paying more attention to the full screen slides than any in-your-face promo clip. A nice effort all round - especially everything pillar boxed as opposed to zoomed or faked edges.
I forget how often they used to do the next programme slide into ident - theres a few YouTube BBC1 examples pre-97 I've seen recently where the silent ident has allowed the announcer to continue their sentence from the slide straight into the ident, flowed well.

Loving it.
It's the fades between programmes, trails, slides and idents that's doing it for me.
It's just a nice pace, and as someone said before, you do pay attention to the in your face slides.
Thanks to whoever came up with the idea -
