The same recreated cube that has been used in the recent trails for the series, no surprises from Network - which in itself is unsurprising.

Regular announcer, which is a shame. But hey, at least they didn't feel the need to add music to it this time - nothing quite like several seconds of glorious silence!

Yes, but why add film dust and scratches ?

Because the folks responsible at Network can't resist tampering with stuff to make it less authentic than it should be?

Maybe a rule that doesn't allow silence like on radio where the emergency tape will start?

Eh ? I'm talking about scratches and dust added to the image, not the audio. And it's a sad day, when genuine silence of any length is unable to be broadcast before some crass back up 'noise' cuts in, although it seems we've already reached that point with some radio stations.

That's definitely not vague in the slightest Razz

Whatever it is, I'll have to take a wild TX guess here... 6:30pm?

That ident is the worst possible choice. The one they used was very shortlived originally, being used for only a few months in 1973.

I think that ident could have been around for anything up to 3 years (until the end of 1974), the actual introduction date is unknown. As for the changing colour of the horizontal line and 'COLOUR' legend, although http://www2.tv-ark.org.uk/bbctwo/1967_idents.html states they were white to begin with, before changing to cyan in 1973, http://thetvroom.com/bbc-uk/bbc-2-03-01.html reckons it's the other way round. I think the most likely scenario is that the different versions were in fact interchangeable. I think the appearance of idents was less 'fixed' in the days of mechanical symbols, the presentation people would tinker with things over time as they saw fit. Even the version with the black background on the TV Room page could in fact be interchangeable with the blue background version, seeing as the 1974-79 version can also be seen with both colour backgrounds.
