I find close up night vision shots of projectile vomiting so entertaining.

76. Crossroads 2003

I know this found fandom with a few people here but in reality the Yvon Grace revamp of this daytime series was commercial suicide. The original had been bought in to replace an Australian soap opera which at the time was appealing greatly to teenagers. Home & Away was to ITV what Hollyoaks is to Channel 4.

So when they bought in Series 2 they essentially made it a British version of H&A. Which to be fair, makes sense. It's on straight after CITV and if it worked for H&A it'd work for XR. And to be fair, it did.

The ratings were never going to be amazing for that timeslot and a show like Home & Away - which by this time was constantly coming in at number 1 on Five's ratings - was always going to be a damn hard act to follow.

Cancelling the Friday & Bank Holiday shows was stupid - especially as it screwed up all the weekend cliffhangers something rotten, but they'd done that with Home & Away too. What was dowright stupid though was putting it up against Neighbours, which despite commanding a rediculous audience for a show that gets thumped by H&A in its own country, is nonetheless popular here.

Commercial suicide though was cancelling MK2 because of "bad ratings" which wasn't the case. Yvon Grace was completely wrong in her ego-driven (as opposed to intelligence-driven) revamp of the programme as the post-CITV audience won't buy something targeted at the 40/50something demographic.

And apart from anything the scriptwriting and acting was laughably appaling, and thus the ratings plummeted.

Thankfully there was a god in Nigel Pickard, who IMO was quite right to ditch the show which was making a once-legendary programme a national joke.

75. The Wright Stuff

A perfectly good format ruined by the egotystical anchor who cuts people off if they do not agree with him whilst telling all others he "knows where [they're] coming from" and does air quotes all the time.

The occasional glimpse of Kate Silverton is the only thin this show has going for it

Sorry to be selfish, but i'm having another go...

73. 60-Minute Makeover

Why? Because in the midst of the ridiculously overcrowded genre of house-makeover shows, ITV went and gave their prime afternoon spot to this hurrendous programme. And that 'ti-ki-ti-ka' music's f**king annoying!
