I wouldn't say he's typecast at all - I'd say the opposite actually, he is the wrong man for the job!
Though I feel he'd be suited to something like Deal or No Deal where there is more interaction with the contestants and audience, here there isn't much for him to do apart from read the questions and drag out the answers - and frankly they could get Dale Winton to do that!

Never noticed, but were they back last night then.
I do agree with you - but last week during the Noel Edmonds show they ditched the canned clapping - and it sounded even worse to be honest! I blame the new music though, which is just terrible!

Also, why do the BBC used those awful false audience sound effects in their Lotto Draws, they are so tacky!

Sorry bout the
thing as My credit at the internet cafe was running out very quickly but I watched it last night and I liked it with the its only you versus 23 thing and the set looked huge, I agree with the lottery draw being awful but the format is good and Dermot isn't that bad a presenter but with the answers being drawn out I don't agree, it was the first show and he needed to reinforce the game in peoples heads but Deal has to be the worst, opening 22 boxes could be done in 5 minutes not 45

I enjoyed the show, felt it made a nice change rather than just sticking Jet Set back on again for another 6 months.
I agree with comments about the set, it looked enormous! The set up reminded me somewhat of "The Chair" presented by John McEnroe a few years back with the whole "rise from the floor" idea.
I think though when the contestants lost, rather than just turn around and walk past the door, they should lower the stand and then make the contesant walk out the studio that way.
However suggesting that, would people start to make comparisons to "The Chair" and said they tried that idea before, but it didn't really add to the show?
