Interesting this. Includes interviews with people you don't hear of anymore... the ageing of Jim Davidson for example.

What's different about this is the comedians are also talking about other comedians with a negative view instead of praising them. Understandably I suppose. But its not your normal "oh they are brilliant" fest which makes a change.

Sean Hughes for example has had a jibe at Bob Hope for not writing his own material.

With their latest batch of "100 Greatest..." they've been pretty quiet about promoting the voting - they always used to advertise the voting process alot months before the actual show.

C4 have said they're looking to ditch the list shows, which I'm 50/50 on to be honest - they should keep them as an option as they're are still obvious areas not done - such as the simple 100 Greatest TV Shows for example, and especially a 100 Greatest C4 Shows would be great for the Autumn.

However, the last few editions have come across as lazy productions - not having a presenters really makes them feel alot cheaper, however annoying the presenter might be. Has Jimmy Carr's contract which ensures he's on C4 at least once a week now expired?

They've also screwed up the scheduling since most moved to Sunday - splitting them over Saturday and Sunday was probably the best.

And also with tonights event - Stand Ups - it's not that long since they did The Comedians' Comedian - which is the same, but different!

I'm glad though C4 have identified the weekend is the weak link in their schedule - and they've long targetted that Sunday 8pm slot - but nothing has ever really worked, though I think they should have given The Search more of a chance.

The trouble with a lot of these clip shows nowadays is you get the same clips (i.e Johnny Rotten's outburst on Bill Grundy's show - how many times have we seen that?) followed up with comments by the likes of Paul Morley and Bob Mills on every show.

Also I'd just like to say, what an fascist pig Jim Davidson has become! Slagging of the likes of Jo Brand, Peter Kay, Frank Carson...hmm lets look at your career shall we Jim - you won a talent competition and got your Big Break hosting The Generation Game for 6 years! Face it mate, just admit you're a failure. To think I used to enjoy watching this guy on a Saturday evening wobbling his quivering blokes to the sound of Emerson Lake and Palmer!

'Become'? You mean at some time he wasn't one? Don't remember that.

I quite like the 100 Worst... shows that C4 did. AFAIK there were only two: ~ Britons (a parody of the BBC show) and the follow up ~ Records (won by Cheeky Song ).

I found those to be immensely enjoyable... how about the 100 Worst Films , a sort of homage to the Raspberry awards?!

Yes, 'is' would be more suitable.

Just wondering... can someone let me know who came top in last night's 100 Greatest Stand Up Comedians? I hadn't got the energy to watch the end and needed my bed.

Nice to see that phrase used not in the metaphorical sense for once. Wink
