Is it just me or does anyone agree that Blue Peter has always been a bit naff and chessy?, What other childrens tv show would preview the next special collection of stamps that Royal Mail would produce?

Blue Peter has to be my favourite children's television programme of all time. I started watching when I was two years old (1979) and watched every episode until about 1995. Yes, I am a badgewinner and I got in free to loads of places! I won the blue badge, silver badge and the green badge. I have lost count of the bring-and-buy sales I took part in, the appeals I helped with and all the rest of it. I still watch occasional episodes today when The Weakest Link isn't on and it's matured well over the years. Blue Peter, I salute you!
Go on, call me a posh git! You know you want to!

Agreed. But some of the people on it make it worth watching for me! I adore both the current male presenters Simon Thomas and Matt Baker (it is still them isn't it?) espicially the latter's gorgeous Newcastle accent... *swoon*

Button Moon was excellent - I've a book from the Button Moon series.
I remember Bertha and Pigeon Street. Around the World in 80 days - I've got the titles to that.
And to Pigeon Street and Bertha.
Certainly Camberwick Green - I've got all of the books!
Henry's Cat, Penny Crayon - excellent.
I'm surprised no-one's mentioned Greenclaws, that was great.
I remember Thomas the Tank Engine and The Raggy Dolls - all pretty good.
All of this thinking is hurting my brain!
But, of course, Mr Benn - the classic.
I'm sure it's actually the law that you have to be gay if you're to be presenting children's TV.
ITV certainly wont get themselves into trouble then.
Bring back Going Live.
I only remember small parts of Rainbow.
The Dreamstone was pretty good and, whilst I'm not sure if this counts, The Snowman was just the most fantastic cartoon ever created - pure brilliance. Who'd have thought that millions of children could sit down on Christmas Day and watch a cartoon without people speaking? A truely outstanding piece of work.
Although they should be putting The Nightmare Before Christmas on at prime time on Christmas Eve. Last year it was on at 1am. Pathetic.
TV has gone downhill since I was a child. It's all of this 'Pokemon' nonsense now, a real shame.
There certainly will not be another opportunity for Channel 4 to make a greatest children's TV shows. Simply because all children's TV is now pants.

Well, it would be hard to pick one favourite, but here's a list I used to watch when I was little:
Thomas The Tank Engine (loved it!!)
Postman Pat
Fireman Sam
PC Pinkerton
Rainbow
The Flintstones
Rosie and Jim (with John Cunliff - he was great!)
The Moomins (original one from the eighties - not cartoon one)
I can't think of any more!!

I liked most of those previously mentioned, remember when ITV showed childrens programmes everyday at lunch can anyone remember the line up for them because it would really bring back the memories, I think Rainbow was wednesdays or thursdays. Also how about Playdays, arh the memories. Rainbow was one of my favourites, 'I' bought the 'magazine' for years and it changed its look a while before BBC 1 did in 1991, and I used to get the big pile(I'm a bit of a collector, they ended up going but I've got loads of other rubbbish!) and try to entertain my family but saying this is the old bbc 1, this is the new one..... Thats one of my earliest memories of being obsessed with TV pres.
