Prehaps you elude that Paul Hudson means anything to anyone other than his family and yourself. He is hardly a celebrity, and only appears on TV for approx. 6 minutes per day.

Anyone that has ever been in a shop where he is doing a booksigning would believe that locally he is a celeb...

Yes, and the stackloads of people that turned out to his Extreme Weather DVD signing in Doncaster last November would agree with that too!

And in Scarborough too!! Wink

And also I believe at the White Rose Shopping Centre, York, Huddersfield, Halifax, Wakefield, Hull, Beverley and Sheffield...... Wink

Sadly, I bet you were at them all.

No, one was enough for me. Thanks.

No, one was enough for me as well, thankyou for asking! Doncaster was the nearest and cheapest place to get to! I can't believe that the publicity team from Great Northern/BNT didn't include a couple of places in Lincolnshire for the signing tour... Paul's a popular figure in Boston and we've got an Ottakar's and Smiths here. He'd have been equally popular in Grimsby and Lincoln too...

The Regional Programme statement 2005 and review of 2004 is now available on yorkshiretv.com with information about Calendar and other regional programmes on ITV1. They are trying to be positive despite the non-news programming cut backs, examples include saying that minority views will now feature within other programmes instead of in It's Your Call (what with it being axed) and that The Allotment was so successful in daytime that it will now move to prime time (ignoring the fact that the daytime slot is no longer available to them). It is quite obvious how this entire publication talks in completely the opposite way to the policies that ITV PLC have.

Sadly, having watched Look North at some points last week, I have to agree. Peter desperately needs a co-presenter to bounce off - not that he isn't an extremely competent broadcaster, it's just that it improves the feel and flow of the show and makes it considerably more entertaining than it is now.

I agree that Peter is extremely competent, but his style of presentation just doesn't belong on a news programme. He reminds me of a variety show compere. He would be great on that kind of tv show - he's unique and a real treasure, but he struggles with news journalism.

Before retiring I was involved in the radio industry, where Peter was greatly respected, but I feel he has yet to find his niche in television.

Have to say I agree with the comment about Peter Levy being lost in news journalism, the interview with the guy from Lincoln education today was a farce with him asking the same thing three times despite the fact that the guy had given the answer Peter wanted the first time.

I have to say I agree about this about Peter Levy. When doing serious interviews it does seem quite embarrasing. He's hardly Paxman. Most of the rest of the show is just silliness half the time and with Peter on his own its one long drag from item to item

That's why he was best when he was at Leeds hosting the Lunchtime News which has a less serious agenda. With others saying Peter seems more like a variety show host, this is why I find it strange that he has dumped all his radio work. He was one of the best in the business on Radio Leeds

Oh by the way, early risers have seen different presenters this week. Gail Mellors on Calendar's GMTV bulletins and Nicola Hudson on Look North Breakfast.

Yes agree, Peter on lunchtime news excellent and just right for that time of day. But I also agree that his news interview technique makes me hide behind the sofa with embarrassment. It's the aged old problem of the interviewer being unable to listen carefully while simultaneously formulating his next question - Peter doesn't seem to listen to the answers he is given and asks questions he has already had the answer to.

Easy for me to knock him - it can't be an easy job.

I hope "soft interviewing" isn't becoming a trait of the BBC regions.

As has been discussed in the Points West thread, it's also rife in Bristol.

Hopefully - I sent him an idea for a rota of guest presenters like Have I Got News For You. One female from their existing staff per week in the month...

Week 1 - Peter Levy and Hannah Moffatt
Week 2 - Peter Levy and Helen Philpot
Week 3 - Peter Levy and Jenny Hill
Week 4 - Peter Levy and Katherine Birkett - shameless self-publicity! Wink
