I live in Sheffield and was away in Hunstanton, North Norfolk this week and was surprised to see the the familiar Calendar South on the television. Is this just a quirk of North Norfolk being close to the Belmont transmitter? I don’t ever recall seeing any coverage for the area...

North Norfolk has always received BBC One Yorks & Lincs and ITV Yorkshire from Belmont, although there are some BBC East/ITV Anglia relays in addition from Tacolneston.

Surely people in Norfolk get annoyed with that.
One of the main counties of East Anglia watching Yorkshire news??
BBC East and ITV Anglia are even based in Norfolk! Wouldn't people there rather see Norfolk and Suffolk news on Anglia and BBC East than a programme called 'Look North '?! Surely north Norfolk isn't programmed to get Yorkshire on Sky?

It wasn't an issue until 1974 when Anglia which also used to serve Lincolnshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire switched to Yorkshire Television. As I mentioned, there are Freeview Light relays across North Norfolk and King's Lynn which give them the correct regional versions, but Belmont thumps in there which gives them the full range of Freeview channels.

Interesting information I guess the geography of the area lends itself to viewers getting pictures from Belmont. Have Yorkshire ever given any coverage for the area?

All the various title sequences in the 1990s which featured a shape of the region used to clearly show the coverage area. As shown in this image, it’s just King’s Lynn and a thin sliver at the very North West corner of Norfolk.

I’m sure they must have got coverage over the years, I’m sure if someone sends in a decent photo Jon would include it in the weather at least

jolly turnip, Media Box and London Lite gave kudos

On the Look Levy bulletin, King's Lynn is on the weather map.

Probably not much; it's hardly 'north'.

I think he means the topography. I.e the areas very flat.

Looking at ITV's corporate site, the advertising macro for Yorkshire seems to go as far as the Lincolnshire border, leaving King's Lynn and North Norfolk to Anglia for local advertisers, despite Belmont being the main tx.

It's not entirely to do with Belmont's strong signal on the N Norfolk coast, Tacolneston is also very poor in that area. Compare the two coverage maps. As I've often said, the siting of main transmitters was decided in the 50s and 60s, and the primary goal was to cover as much of the UK as possible, from the least number of masts. This has lead to these sort of anomalies.

Remember, Belmont was until 1974 an Anglia transmitter, great for Norfolk, but what about the parts of Yorkshire it serves ?
