And that was due to a spat between Yorkshire and Tyne Tees over a transmitter.

Does Emley Moor relay Tyne Tees at some frequency? Where I am in Eastern Nottinghamshire I can pick up YTV East, Leeds and Tyne Tees very easily (but ironically not Central.)

No it doesn't. You're receiving Tyne Tees from Bilsdale in North Yorkshire which does reach quite a long way down the A1 corridor due to the lack of hills.

I simply don’t see a region that includes East Yorkshire and Essex making any sense at all.

Well that was the Anglia region until 1974 and people complained they were losing it. Including in Hull.

In these troubled times I've been reading on line editions of various broadcasting journals from the 60s and 70s.
Bilsadle is listed in the years leading up to it actually entering service for ITV as being allocated to YTV. It actually carried TTT from opening, though I've seen discussions that it carried YTV for a short period during test transmissions.
The IBA also talked about providing facilities to allow Belmont to be fed with opt out programming from Anglia post 1974. I think all that ever amounted to was the weather forecasts?

There was also Trident TV, the joint YTV TTT venture to sell advertising spots, as a result of the Emley /Bilsdale overlap

Have you got the links? I'd be interested to read them.

The news pages make interesting reading, and there are non technical articles regarding the broadcasting politics of the time. Don't ask me where I read the the stuff I've stated, I can't remember which editions now "

Thanks a lot for that. Looks fascinating.

Michael Hunt always made a point of warning new continuity announcers not to shorten his name when introducing him.

I bet the likes of Paul Lavers would have done it (carefully and deliberately) from time to time though.

I don't know whether he specifically inspired the RadioActive team to have within their collection of characters called Mike, a Mike Hunt ?

Great to see the Belmont weather forecast again.

I grew up within a mile of Belmont so always assumed Michael Hunt was there!

That's how Mr Levy should sign off, could be a winner.

One of my ex bosses when I was a lad used to be the Engineer In Charge there in the 60s, when it was a manned site. They made the most of being incarcerated there he would say.

Regarding Belmont. I've been reading the IBA's 1973/4 report and it speaks of creating a special set of programmes for that area which would have been made at Kirkstall Road. I'm curious to know if they would have been a co-production between Yorkshire and Anglia?
