It makes sense for the Corporation not to encourage 'unnecessary' 'official' contact with the general population currently, moreso with it's news and current affairs 'talent'. Linking the announcement with Coronavirus on air might in retrospect have been appropriate.

If there was an alternative reason for this, surely we'd have heard in the time that's elapsed since the on air message.

I've got to say that the statement is ringing alarm bells in my head. My theory is that there is something with legal or emotional consequences. It was the part of the statement that says that they couldn't elaborate further that made me wonder that there is a issue or even a tragedy linked to it.


It's the contemporary equivalent of saying, 'Owing to circumstances beyond our control'

IMHO it would have been better to say that and link it to Coronavirus.

Look North EY & L started with a brief look at how they have changed their production methods (such as more home working and longer mike poles!). As you'd expect Peter did that.

I actually thought they were going to announce a temporary partial merge with Look North Y. But actually I guess now more than ever people need the regular faces.

I would think any "temporary merger" in this day and age would become permanent quite quickly. I doubt those in charge of 'Ull would ever sanction that - Breakfast is as far as they would go.

The person in charge of Hull is also in charge of Leeds. On the report If you look at the inside of what was the open centre you see its empty, its all of the ground floor apart from The Radio Bumbleside studios at the back. You could close it quite easily and use the present situation as an excuse.
