Owain Wyn Evans presented lunchtime Look North today.

It’s on the iPlayer if you want to see how he got on.

Wow! I wonder if he was a last minute stand in. Of course, Paul had to rib him.

Apparenly Owain used to present the S4C equivalent of Newsround and has done the occasional Wales Today, so I can't imagine there was any fear of a car crash. I guess an advantage of using journalists with a bit of weather training to do the weather is that they can multitask when cover is required.

I see Paul didn't get the memo on how to pronounce Owain's name though!

I’m guessing he hadn’t developed his on screen persona by that point though, so it was strange to see him in a slightly serious mode.

The Larry and Paul show is a comedy show - this was obviously a p*&s take.

Well observed. But since then everybody else (and the Radio Leeds top of hour Jingles) have pronounced his name Oh-wine.

Owain and Keeyley presenting tonight, with Paul doing the weather.

The weather department's takeover of Look North is now complete.

They must like to fast track people at Look North. One lunchtime cover and now he’s doing the main programme!

Such a comparison to a decade ago when the programme was the flagship. Bring back the Ackroyd I say!

Good for Jon Mitchell at the end of his forecast this evening he stated he would be back as part of the late ''Calendar News''. Maybe a return of Michelle Gee too?! Ha

They do seem much more relaxed on who presents the main programme.

I remember we commented when someone like Amanda Harper presented the main show for the first time despite having presented other bulletins for years. Now every presenter does the main programme (except Clare)

The B team covering during half term is nothing new, of course. I don't think there was anything wrong with Owain's presenting - as I observed last week, he has more experience of news presenting than you might expect.

With five weather presenters (now that Lisa has returned - was Owain originally brought in as her maternity cover?) to cover 12 or so shifts through the week I guess that frees Keeley and Owain up for news presenting and Paul to do the radio Weather show.

Whatever happened to the superb Penny Bustin? She was a marvellous stand in for Christa.
