Pity they left the Meridian backdrop visible in his contribution, or perhaps many assumed it was the bridge at Wetherby Smile

That bridge isn't even in the Meridian region!

Henley-on-Thames/far SE of Oxfordshire is the only little bit of that county that the Beckley (Oxford) TX doesn't actually cover, but instead gets a relay of Crystal Palace (BBC/ITV London).

As you rightly highlight with your Wetherby comparison, the Meridian bridge backdrop could pass for countless bridges across the UK. Barnstaple or Stratford-upon-Avon, anyone?! It hardly has the unmistakable distinctiveness of the Humber, Tyne, Clifton or Tamar bridges.

EDIT: Yes, I realise that's the whole point! - So it doesn't seem obviously "wrong" (non-local) to any given Meridian viewer, who could mistake it for e.g. the Bittere Park (River Itchen) bridge in Southampton, or the Medway bridge in Maidstone etc etc.

Not only that, BBC Radio Oxford doesn't cover Henley either, instead getting a relay of BBC Radio Berkshire.

Radio Berkshire had their OB ‘van’ at the Henley Festival two weeks ago, although to be fair the festival is on the Berks side of the river, and therefore not in Henley at all !

Just caught up with tonight's full celebration edition. Have to say it was a bit of a shambles. They tried to get far too much in the 25 mins they had. Too many guests in the small time, poor sound quality throughout as they moved around the building. Great idea but poorly executed.

I do feel for them though, that was an hour long programme really. The rigidity of the ITV structure means they have no other opportunity to do such a programme.

The features through the week have been good, but this let the week down.

Kirkstall Road was the first studio centre in Europe built for colour (rather than having it retro-fitted later) so I think it's a reasonable claim in this case.

Though I think the same claim was made about ATV Centre which was built around the same time so one of them couldn't have been for long

There’s also the matter of Southern TV’s centre. On the same site as the old cinema, but a complete new build. I think it started producing programmes summer 1969, so YTV beat them, but along with ATV they were all in construction during the same period

I was surprised that Bob Rust was overlooked in the various retrospective packages, just a brief clip on Friday that seemed to have been played in error as they made a hash of throwing to Jon for the forecast.

At the risk of asking an insensitive question, is Bob still with us?

I love the straight talking of Kathryn Apanowicz saying the name ITV Yorkshire doesn't mean anything it's Yorkshire Television or YTV! Good for her.

Geoff Druett seemed to get fed up of Duncan's constant ''I took his job 15 years ago hehe'' remarks and was rather blunt on the Facebook live. Quite rightly so too.

I’ve caught up with Friday’s programme. It was technically challenging, I suppose as it was meant to be a party, everyone was talking in the background, but that made the sound a bit dodgy, also they were using boom mics rather than what they’d usually use. I expect they weren’t able to rehearse properly as the guests won’t all have been there.

I did notice that Bob Rust was not mentioned at all, but as said before Jon was off until Friday and he only did the forecast even then.

They always give Richard Madeley undue about of time because of how he became a big name, but I hadn’t realised until he said as much, that he was only with Calendar for 2 years.

I thought Jon Mitchell seemed to be struggling with his voice so maybe he was off on sick leave and returned especially on Friday for the special. Great to see Alan Hardwick on the programme.

Carol Vorderman said exactly the same during a report shown yesterday. She said it will always be Yorkshire Television to her, no matter what they're called nowadays.

Likewise the first thing that comes to my mind is the chevron and YTV - Yorkshire Television, it will never be forgotten!
