Kirkstall Road was the first studio centre in Europe built for colour (rather than having it retro-fitted later) so I think it's a reasonable claim in this case.
Kirkstall Road was the first studio centre in Europe built for colour (rather than having it retro-fitted later) so I think it's a reasonable claim in this case.
Though I think the same claim was made about ATV Centre which was built around the same time so one of them couldn't have been for long
Then I think LWTs building was 'the most technologically advanced studio in Europe' a few years later
It's not just the studio centres, OB trucks are also described in the same way.
Technology keeps moving along, and if it means that fewer people are needed, then the production manager's budget is much healthier.
Also there can be benefits to the viewer too!
Tonight's third instalment of the week long YTV at 50 was certainly the most interesting, well for me anyway, titled 'Calendar characters'. The likes of Anna Walker, Richard Madeley, Fred Dinenage (I thought Bob Warman would have popped up too) Nick Powell, Robert Hall and, of course, Christa Ackroyd. Certainly good to see Christa having a proud and prominent role this week. Sadly Jon Mitchell seems to be on holiday this week.
Great to see these still being uploaded and nice to have our own Fred Dinenage popping up from Meridian (kudos to whoever put the YTV logo on the wall!)
I never even realised Freddie D was once at YTV. HOW!
I knew he'd done some work for YTV, but that's the first piece of footage I've even seen. Pity they left the Meridian backdrop visible in his contribution, or perhaps many assumed it was the bridge at Wetherby
Fred was also quiz master on Anglia's 'Gambit' in the 70s
