Was there ever any ill-feeling about “Yorkshire Television” broadcasting to other counties? Did anyone feel the name was inappropriate?

Ever since the Belmont TX was added to YTV during the 1970s, isn't something like perhaps 50% of the region in counties other than Yorkshire?

I wonder how viewers in e.g. Hunstanton felt about receiving "Yorkshire Television"?

It might be around 50% in terms of geographical area, although in terms of population, it's probably nearer 15% of YTV viewers outside Yorkshire.

They did refer to it more as "YTV" in the 80s. I wonder if that was an attempt to placate Lincs/North Norfolk/Derbyshire viewers to an extent.

Well Y sounds like I so that helped too. Very much a play on letters.

Technical problem on the Emley version of tonight's late Calendar. Cut to an ITV Yorkshire caption half way through and then about 15 seconds later returned with the Belmont version. Happened on freeview and HD on satellite.

Yes he did, I know that, but I assume he only took that job as there was no vacancy back at Look North and he wasn’t really in it for the long haul at South Today

You couldn’t be further from the truth. In a recent interview, Harry Gration revealed that he was settled in the south and content to stay. By all accounts some pressure was brought to bear on management at BBC South to let him go.

Think he sounded less northern in that BBC South clip.

Calendar kicks off a series of week long celebrations tonight for YTV at 50. I am guessing it will be a decade each night. More at 6.

Thought it strange that Yorkshire TV logo and signs removed from the ITV Leeds building but not ITV in Norwich which still says Anglia Television
