Are they actually in the newsroom? It looks like the first floor overlooking reception, although I can’t quite remember the layout from when I was last there.
I think they're in a meeting room just off the newsroom. The newsroom is on the floor above reception.
Hopefully the new look set comes with an HD upgrade and new titles just to get rid of that missproportioned BBC logo, although I doubt it; depending on what BBC News does this year (if they have anything planned)
as long as they bring back a desk because both of them look uncomfortable "legs akimbo".
I can't see them bringing in a large desk perhaps a slightly higher coffee table.
It's perfectly physically possible for a desk to be taller (i.e. at formal/proper "office desk" height, rather than "coffee table" height) whilst also being quite small - if space (in "floor area" terms) is limited - in its other dimensions, surely?
Perhaps something like the adjustable height desk in Studio B at NBH? I presume the new set will be designed to be more suitable/easy re-dressed for all of three shows recorded in that studio.
I also really hope they've sorted out the dismal picture quality on some of the cameras!
Sunday Politics is live from Sheffield today, so we won't get to see a redressed temporary set.
Super League Show was recorded on location last week but I think this week's might be back in the studio from the iPlayer write up.
That probably is one of the biggest challenges of the set design, making it look like a BBC News set most of the time and then not look like news for the Super League Show without needing too much dressing.
Since BBC Sport moved to Media City, I'm still quite surprised that they do The Super League Show in Leeds, and they don't use one of the BBC Sport studios.
The first series was made at Oxford Road, but I suspect there is politics at play - it's an English Regions commission so they can make a studio and crew available to the indie producers more cheaply than hiring Salford.
