I think the most deserving region for a relaunch is HTV West. The set looked dated when it was introduced, and now looks more like something an RSL would use.
Quite strange having the same set on BBC1 and BBC2 at the same time, just with different colours on the background. Oh and what are network playing at promoing a programme that's being opted out of by large parts of the country on the anno at the end of the Ken Hom programme

Duncan actually said, "we're coming to you live from our newsroom next week, ahead of something very exciting for us all here at Calendar". That sounds more than a set change, unless it's just Duncan building it up a bit.
So, it remains to be seen if the newsroom is still with green walls and old logos all over it, and the chevron of course.
Indeed what a surprise, they've only had the current one about 18 months. It doesn't seem 2 minutes ago since we were all discussing Christine siting at the short edge of the desk.
Doing it from the newsroom will be interesting, it'll be like a flashback to the mid 90s. I wonder if they've redecorated a bit.
Duncan said there would an exciting new announcement made next week. No doubt it'll be a studio like London Tonight's although I don't know how they would manage to do the OB format without a big screen. Unless they are dropping the OB format.
OB format dropped according to a trailer...
Sounds all very interesting coming from the Newsroom saw a bit of the Lunchtime Bulletin ....wow the newsroom has changed! Calendar name added but the chevron was removed about a year ago with the ITV YORKSHIRE Logo....

Shame that the chevron's been replaced, although no great shock...
Anyway, I think it's a good move to drop the OB format. Very often they seemed to be struggling for a decent location to go to. Having both of the presenters in the studio will also allow a bit more interaction and chemistry between them.
It'll be interesting to see if they have a 'window' behind them in the new set like Central News and London Tonight. Calendar always seems to try not to appear Leeds biased, so a large Leeds scene might not fit in well. I think a 4-way split screen with views of different cities from around 'Our Region™' would be good.
Christine presented from the newsroom tonight with Duncan out on location.
They made reference to the new set being built and showed the progress so far and said we'd go back during the week. I think it's fair to say we know what's coming.
Here are some dodgy captures (sorry about the quality but you get the idea) :
It looked good in the newsroom tonight, with various camera angles used. Good to see a recycle bin in the background and the back of a laser printer and a pile of binders!
The studio looks fairly open on that live shot, usually you can see the edge of another set as there's about another 2 or 3 sets in there.
The 3.05pm bulletin was done in front of the blue newsroom backdrop, I wonder where they are doing that from, it doesn't feel like one of the usual bulletin broomcupboards but probably is, although they might as well have kept the usual bulletin background.
And talking about bulletins, fresh from panto alongside Billy Pearce and the Panto Idol winner (they mentioned it on Calendar just once or twice) Faye was back on the News Round-Up tonight
