Must happen in other regions too, Shefali at Midlands Today does some presenting, and Victoria Graham at Spotlight is formerly of the national Weather team.

I suspect it's actually quite nice for the person doing weather - they're going to get sensible questions from somebody who understands the limitations of the forecast and technology, so no curve balls - certainly no Buerk vs McCaskill scenario if it's all gone pear shaped!

Rebecca Wood also does occasional news presenting at Midlands Today but it would be very rare for either of them to even slightly interact with a forecaster as they tend to do weekends which are covered by Nottingham forecasters.

Look North turns 50 next month and by the sound of it we’re getting a special opt-out programme on Sunday 25th March (the exact anniversary date). Judith Stamper and Uncle Peter are going to feature, amongst others, apparently. I wonder if they’ll dare to include Ms Ackroyd?

No it’ll be the elephant in the room, they’ll jump straight from Sophie Raworth, to the introduction of the Hull programme to Amy Garcia!

It'd be too taxing.

Oh there are plenty of bigger elephants if the programme is about regional broadcasting from Yorkshire rather than Look North specifically.

According to a very interesting piece of academic research documenting the history of the BBC in Yorkshire 1945-1990 that I stumbled across recently, many of the early regional feature programmes were fronted by one J Savile, and he was even a member of the BBC North Advisory Council in the early days, so I imagine that will be glossed over!

Despite being a PhD thesis it's written in an accessible way and is well worth a read.

Look North Leeds seems to have done something I’ve not seen them do before, now they have the large screen as used for the weather. But during the start this evening they had a sort of AR (I’ve no idea) video over the usual backdrop behind where the presenters sit, I doubt they’ve replaced it with a screen.

It was a static locked off shot mind.

Snow must bring out different presentation, Calendar dusted off their video wall tonight which I haven’t seen used for ages.

It's just a DVE shrink, which as Andrew suggests would only work with a locked off camera shot. Nicely done, and they didn't keep it on screen for long enough for you to realise that it's fake.

Doesn't even need to be a DVE - could just be a key+fill overlay..

That's something you don't see every day, Levy freezing his nuts off on The One Show. Very Happy

Believe Harry was on last night.

Peter seemed to be struggling tonight sans autocue. He went into “thank you very much for being here” overdrive at one point.
