Interesting move by the BBC for the growing number of Portuguese migrant workers in the south of Lincolnshire - they're going to get their own news bulletin on Sundays, spoken in Portuguese. there was a report on tonight's Look North about it - seems a good move....

In part, local licence-paying Portuguese people?

!!!!!

Paid for by other licence fee payers who it will have no relevance to.

And the BBC wishes to spend 15% less on news and current affairs? They do make me laugh...

The BBC Cornwall website has no relevance to me but I'm prepared to pay for it... selflessness begins with oneself.....

I thought that providing programming of a minority interest which wouldn't be viable commercially was the whole point of having a license fee

Well if that's the case they should provide news in every language.

Well, they're on to a start with the BBC Asian Network, and all the Medium Wave frequencies that provide other-language services to areas with a high ethnicity.....

There's a new series of The Super League Show starting on Sunday. Presented live by Harry Gration around about the same time as The Politics Show is live with Cathy Killick

It's the first time it's been on since the move meaning a new look and therefore the studio will no doubt be decorated in a different way

Indeed what a surprise, they've only had the current one about 18 months. It doesn't seem 2 minutes ago since we were all discussing Christine siting at the short edge of the desk.

Doing it from the newsroom will be interesting, it'll be like a flashback to the mid 90s. I wonder if they've redecorated a bit.

Duncan said there would an exciting new announcement made next week. No doubt it'll be a studio like London Tonight's although I don't know how they would manage to do the OB format without a big screen. Unless they are dropping the OB format.

I think the London Tonight style set is something that must be being phased in across the ITV regions, London got it first, IIRC Central News West has (likely the East edition aswell) and Meridian has it. Someone posted something in the Granada Reports Thread saying that a new set was being constructed, though there has been no confirmation of this, I can see it happening as they aren't using their normal studio as much and the overview shots have disappeared, so I seriously believe they're doing something.

It'll be interesting to see how this will work on Calendar, if they take the London Tonight approach by having a 'window' with a backdrop of Leeds or to take the Meridian approach to have an orgy of yellow and blue on the screen.

I think the most deserving region for a relaunch is HTV West. The set looked dated when it was introduced, and now looks more like something an RSL would use.

And if these persistent rumours about Helen Fospero leaving Hull Look North are true, Clare Frisby would be my first choice as new presenter alongside Peter Levy.
Perhaps Helen Philpot and I could provide back-up if Clare goes on holiday?

Katherine, where did you hear this? The only place I've seen this mentioned online is by you, apart from one suggestion in October that she'd be leaving in the next couple of weeks/months, according to 'sources'. Which sounds pretty dubious to me... No offence meant - I just don't trust anonomous 'sources'!!!!
I'm not doubting your information is correct, but I see Helen nearly every day, she seems very settled here and there has been no hint of a permanent move south.
Yours with curiosity
