Dusty was still a bit of a local celebrity, getting wheeled out to do the Christmas lights switch on in my native Pudsey long after 3-2-1 had been axed.
Never really got what they were thinking using a character from a show most adults didn't understand let alone kids other than that it was made down the road in Rodley IIRC, and probably cheap to book. (They always do the lights on CiN night so a certain bear with an association with the town is always busy elsewhere otherwise I'm sure he would do the switch on)
I know what you mean! Our local panto has George and Zippy in it. Rainbow ended two decades ago, today's kids don't know them!

Yes its a bit of a mess but we wouldn't have it any other way for a Calendar Christmas Special. Surprisingly, a lot of it is still sub-regional which has led to a couple of awkward pauses whilst the other sub-region finishes their report, a nice touch though nevertheless. Bit strange how the choir keep singing over Christine and Duncan.
... and they've forgotten to do a forecast for the East region again.
Leeds aired an extra Sherlock trailer after the News at Six and before Look North probably due to an issues since there was a lot of background noise in the studio, and Paul's mic not working
Edit: It seems they switch to the BBC News channel just before since the ticker appeared, which is where the trailer came from.
I think there are a couple which can be booked by any station for events etc. Often to be seen on Wembley Way before cup finals.
Radio Humberside has also had a studio refit using the ViLoR kit, I suspect to simplify adding extra studios to accommodate visiting (network) shows, but that is conjecture.
I believe Radio Lincolnshire have been attempting to get out of the Radion buildings for a while - co-location for live shows with a reporter base in cheaper surroundings in the city?
I can imagine Lincolnshire being near the top of the list for a refit - IIRC they had the non-standard version of the classic MKIII desks, produced by Neve rather than the BBC in house.
Pretty sure, Charlie Partridge (Managing Editor) hinted at a refurb of equip of sorts in 2017 on a recent phone in on the station. This follows up some building and cosmetic refurbishment recently I believe
I'd have thought then that would be the ViLoR upgrade he's referring to. Most stations with Mark 3 desks are being refurbished by this project over the coming months.
Slight bit of rota talk, we had a rare Saturday appearance by Paul Hudson yesterday, even Peter Levy pointed it out on Twitter.
Tonight Ian White was hosting, and it was quite amusing how he side stepped name checking the weather presenter on both bulletins, as I bet he wasn't entirely sure how to pronounce it.
The best gig in regional TV must be Jon Mitchell. I think pretty much the only presenter who hasn't appeared at all over the festive season, everyone else has appeared generally once.
