Nice to see Calendar putting a lot of effort into tonight's programme. Special programme from the parade, with Christine, John and Jon Mitchell there, and a lot of reporters too as well as Duncan reporting again from Kos and a sub-regional round-up in the studio. Looks like they forgot to record or play out the East version of the weather though as they showed they just showed version with the West place names, not sure why they couldn't have just used the pan-regional map.
For the Rio Homecoming Parade there were special Look North opening titles tonight with a different remix of the theme.
Just rewound the BBC One stream to see what music it was, and I recognise it from somewhere but can't think what it has been used for before? It's a remix of the 2008 theme rather than a new one like the two themes South East Today have had done and the one Spotlight has had - could have been used for regional debates before the election in 2015 maybe?
Only negative about Calendar's coverage was that they positioned themselves at the start/finish, but as the parade was scheduled for 5:45-6:45 there wasn't much going on behind Christine throughout their whole time slot. Might have been better setting up the OB in City Square instead.
Calendar included quite a long sub regional news round up with Michael Billington in the studio, Look North decided not to include any other news in their programme.
Did Look North Hull include any coverage as it was supposed to be an event for all of Yorkshire?

Nothing except a small mention by Peter in the in-brief section. Interesting as last week on the Leeds version they had quite an in-depth report about the City of Culture news in Hull, with Harry mentioning they'd continue to cover it next year, with Paul meant to be spending a lot of time there on OBs.
A classic example of the argument about what should be included in regional news programmes, similar to how Hull didn't cover Yorkshire Cricket at first as they don't play in the Hull region, and how Leeds sometimes cover tourist events in Whitby even though it isn't officially in the region.
Although being a Yorkshire event, I think it was seen as pretty Leeds centric. Radio Leeds and York had joint coverage from around Leeds, but Radio Sheffield seemed to continue with normal programming.
Well Jess Ennis Hill wasn't there, I assume she's either on holiday or competing in another competition elsewhere. BBC Radio Sheffield may have covered it otherwise.

But that would mean missing all of the parade and crowds in the background.
The ''live'' guests were also along the Headrow.
Confirmed as new graphics from Monday, and a short montage of old regional weather forecasts, which I assume was available to all regions. Seemed a bit daft as Jon was the only in the VT that most in this region would know.
