We have interchangeable faces on BBC London's breakfast bulletins daily. Unless there's an affinity to having a regular presenter in that slot, is it a big deal?

Well that's exactly it.

We've been here before, a revolving door of presenters and weather presenters might be acceptable in London, but up North viewers expect to see a regular face who they've seen on screen for many years.

This is actually worse as I presume the interchangeable faces on BBC London breakfast appear elsewhere on the BBC London output, as reporters or bulletin readers. For Leeds viewers it just looks like there are 6 different breakfast hosts who never appear anywhere else.

It does seem odd that there isn't a "regular" Hull presenter at Breakfast and that they seem to go in some sort of strange daily rota as to who is available to do it.

Has John Pakey appeared on Look North yet? He's the newest recruit from local press....

Harry and Paul live from the Great Yorkshire Showground tonight ahead of the show starting tomorrow. I guess they were there tonight instead of Clare being there in breakfast tomorrow, as I doubt Victoria Holland will give it more than a brief mention.

I forgot to mention there was a report from Wesley Smith on Calendar last Friday.

Oh really... was it a Calendar region specific report or just a generic report with a vague connect to the region?

Kind of both, he was reporting on the Hampton Court Flower Show, but from a Yorkshire perspective. I imagine he made numerous reports for the different regions.

Paul Brand to present Last Orders tonight. Has John Stapleton stopped presenting the other regional programmes too? I recall Duncan unusually presented the last programme from Leeds instead of London so John hasn't been seen in a while.

Or so much going on that for John to record all of the regions' programmes they would have had to have started a few days ago and everything would be out of date?

Good. In my view it should be a different face for each Region, presented either from the Region or Westminster.

Agreed I'd rather see a familiar regional political reporter on the politics shows as they are usually across the local stories during the week. However I do like John Stapleton and he fits well and it is simply daft having a room of presenters waiting their turn.
Given the low audience why commit further costs?

I know what you mean about costs etc but I feel each Region should cater for audience with it's own team in their own (sub)-Regional studios whether that be Newsreaders, Weather Forecasters or Political Editors. ITV are the only commercial Regional PSB with many benefits (and potentially more in the future) afforded to them. With talk of re-establishing some of ITV's lost Regional programming, I feel in the future there needs to be regulation to make sure programming is made within it's Regional boundaries by dedicated Regional teams (same with the BBC)...especially in the ever devolved country we live in.

Surely the most important issue is that local politicians have a soapbox, rather than different regional political editors waiting their turn to film their regional political programme?

Interestingly when BBC Look North were at the Great Yorkshire Show last week Yorkshire had a link to Paul for the weather but East Yorkshire went to Keeley, however this week during the hot weather both parts of Yorkshire went to the same weather presenter so Paul in Bridlington on Monday and Keeley in Scarborough on Tuesday.

One of the viewers even wrote in to Peter joking that Paul's weather forecasts were so inaccurate that Keeley had gone to a different area Very Happy

At a guess, Keeley was in Leeds as a back up for the OB failing and probably to prepare the forecast Paul presented. Hull don't normally cover the Great Yorkshire Show so taking a forecast from there may have looked odd.

Although the East coast resorts are technically all in different regions (Scarborough/Filey = Leeds, Brid = Hull, Whitby = Newcastle) there is a lot of overlap
