It wasn't an ad for the Ford Granada then ? !!
Carlton's first advert was a vintage ad for the Vauxhall(?) Carlton!
You're right ! Ha
And C5's first ad was for Chanel No5 I think ?

Nothing political - it's simply because of the transmitter path.
It's Yorkshire's regional news has always been known as Calendar - it's a brand that's remained.
The original ITV licences were devised around the location of transmitters.
If there was no Pennines it would have been one coast to coast patch controlled from Granada - the original licence holder.
I was meaning ITV internal politics. The phrase "Yorkshire Television region" or "YTV region" is subtly different to "Yorkshire", so doesn't alienate the good people of Lincolnshire. But mentioning YTV seems to be taboo, so "Calendar region" is a good enough substitute.
When YTV launched it didn't have the Belmont transmitter so this wasn't so big a problem.
I'm not sure the viewer is particularly bothered about ITV internal politics but from a regional news programme being discussed here, if the viewer knows Calendar they will get the 'region'.
For example the most recent NHS strikes can be described as 'Doctors across the Calendar region have been on strike today' rather than listing the half dozen or so NHS trusts - although not ideal it's less clumsy.
Calendar region is probably the best shorthand way of referring to their patch now that YTV region is awkward politically.

Well there was a documentary called just that!
A one-off deservedly fond look back at Granada. I've still not heard it mentioned in ITV circles but I respect your opinion.
Emma Jesson occasionally refers to 'Granadaland' in her weather forecasts.

It seems BBC Radio Leeds have got a new person in charge and wants to put their mark on the station.
Martin Kelner has been axed again, but will be paid the rest of his contract on gardening leave.
He has launched a scathing attack on BBC bosses which has been picked up by the media http://www.martinkelner.com/wtitten-by-martin-kelner/My_Sacking_and_a_Plausible_Plan_for_BBC_Local_Radio.shtml and has received positive remarks from broadcasters like Victoria Derbyshire and Richard Osman.
Andrew Edwards has also been demoted, moving from Drivetime to Martin's old lunchtime show.
Meanwhile the terrible Liz Green keeps her Breakfast show.
Gayle Lofthouse from Minster FM takes over drive.

ITV Yorkshire HD launches on Freesat and Sky on 31 March. No mention of when it will launch on Freeview.

Particularly surprising, as the new boss is a former Radio Leeds reporter/presenter. Would have expected better.
