Ian White enthusiastically back on the LN breakfast sofa this morning.

Is there any work being carried out in the Calendar studio? Since the late Friday bulletin they've been using the gallery backdrop and there hasn't been wide shots at the start and end.

It was obviously a green screen with a single locked off shot tonight.

Wasn't there all sorts of teething problems with the lighting, when Calendar first launched the current set? Perhaps there's still some underlying issues with that? Maybe they've been "making do" with some sort of interim solution until now, and they're now making a permanent "fix" to the lighting situation?

Or it could just be routine annual maintenance. Or anything. We may never know.

Looks like they're doing whatever it is they're doing again this weekend.

Not sure why they bother with the full studio at weekends anhway. A single camera setup with a screen behind/ cso would be sufficient.

I dislike the new ITV studio sets anyway.

Some/many/most/all ITV plc regions have literally just one physical studio in existence and/or in a usable state. So, there is no secondary space for a separate CSO set-up or whatever.

And if the one-and-only studio in each region is of minimal size (i.e. just about big enough to house the current set, with precious little additional space to spare), then there is nowhere to house a separate CSO set-up or such, even within the same studio as the main set.

Furthermore, even if there was enough sufficient additional space within the main studio, surely it would actually be *more* of a "bother" to have a secondary presentation area (and all the lighting requirements etc that would result from it) than to simply use the already-correctly-lit standing set that's already there?

Fair enough.

Lisa Adlam alongside Mr Shires tonight. Must of been one of her first presenting stints on the new set since returning from maternity leave. As you can imagine plenty of awkward positions on how do you sit to present in the chairs!

I think the last time she presented was September 2014, recently there seems to be quite a lot of choice if Christine is away, Gaynor Barnes, Tina Gelder, Lisa Adlam, Rachel Townsend, Claire Ashforth and Sally Simpson, but if its Duncan away it's normally John Shire or David Hirst, Jon Hill or Frazer Maude if they are desperate, but haven't seen neither Jon or Frazer presenting in the new set.

Not seen Tina present for some time now? Think she is more on the producing side now. More Gaynor Barnes please if you ask me! Always rated her more highly than Christine.

They seem to go in phases. A couple of months ago Clare Ashforth seemed to be first choice sub, even ahead of Gaynor, but I don't think she's presented since way before Christmas. Possibly gone back to Granada?

John Shires seems to be becoming more random as he gets older with his off the cuff comments.
