I'm not sure what your point is. The Humber Bridge is in the half of the region that is served by the Belmont transmitter, what used to be called Calendar East.

The Leeds background is the half of region that is served by Emley Moor.

You'd mentioned York Minster but that would be not be a landmark in the Belmont transmitter's patch.
As I understand it Calendar tries to feature landmarks relevant to viewer's areas. Given that they can't have a box-load of images I expect they prefer the ones they have. The difficulty with any recorded images is time of day, weather and seasons.
As I mentioned before I liked the Sheffield station backdrop.

Let me try to spell this out:

York Minster - landmark in Emley's patch.
Humber Bridge - landmark in Belmont's patch.

Sheffield has the advantage that it's in the overlap area, so can legitimately be used for both services.

I believe that Meridian regularly re-record theirs to account for the seasons.

They should use Barnsley Town Hall. Wink
Close enough to represent and be recognised by Sheffield/South viewers but in the Emley patch.

Tongue in cheek of course but it is quite an impressive building

So you like the Humber Bridge now?
I feel we're going round in circles on this topic. Joking aside Barnsley Town Halls not a bad idea. How's it at night?

The Humber Bridge on the Belmont edition is Entirely appropriate.

Actually, the Emley Tower itself is a suitable candidate as a backdrop for the, err Emley patch !

It's recognisable by most of its audience ?

For the short bulletins they should just do what Granada do and use the side screen as the backdrop.

good shout, although we were originally talking about things that are illuminated, so a pitch black version could work.

Was this cockup ever mentioned at the time. Good job Kerrie didn't start effing and jeffing. With so many false starts I'm surprised the weather didn't get cut off.
