I'm surprised they are committing to that now, it's quite a busy time.

I hope we get better rear screens than ITV Wales have, and also a less uncomfortable looking desk than Granada have.

According to her tweets, Christa Ackroyd is working for Calendar tonight.

Whether this is a permanent thing, or just all freelance journalists who are available being deployed to cover all the counts, only time will tell.

Possibly premature speculation - they're getting a surprise new set, could they be about to relaunch with Christa back as presenter?

A welcome appearance of Ian White on the late Look North tonight.

Don't they still have two studios from when they were fully split? Could they have built the new set in the other one?

That was in the old building before they moved.

As expected, Lisa Walton was in the newsroom for tonight's bulletin.

It looks like Calendar will be out of the studio for a few weeks decamping in the newsroom. The weekend bulletins were just a single camera shot. This mornings GMB bulletins were Sally stood in front of a rather washed out plasma.

Gaynor mentioned the temporary newsroom set up a few times but didn't explain to the viewer why they weren't in the studio. The majority of the programme was live from Bradford however.

One thing with the temporary set up, we can't see which parts of the programme are pan regional and which bits aren't.

Jon did the weather in a badly lit space in front of a washed out plasma. Also a return of Pollen Count tonight.

Oh and Christa was only used by Calendar on election night as a freelance journalist. That's all.

I'm a little worried that they're rolling out a new set that's so set on the current ITV News design. The reason I say this is because the design is already 2 and a half years old. IMO they should have rolled out a design loosely based on the ITV News design, so when National news changes, the regions arn't stuck with an out of date design for years on end.

You've probably got nothing to worry about. I can't see an national ITV News rebrand on the cards any time soon.

I hope not, this is the best ITV News has looked since 1999 IMO.

Yeah, only reason the previous one got replaced so soon was because ITV itself changed it's logo.
