A large part of tonight's Calendar was taken up by an election debate with young people from the region. It was pre-recorded although I don't know if it was done today or ages ago. Have other ITV regions done this?
Central also done this on Tuesday. It was recorded on Monday in one particular school.
London did their schools election debate today, presented by Nina Hossain. However it was a small part of the bulletin as they had some berk from UKIP on with Lucrezia Millarini.
They were split versions for each half of the region by the way, Duncan hosted a debate at a school in Bradford whereas Christine hosted one at a college in Hull. (David Hirst and Clare Ashforth were in the studio) I suppose its best they were pre-recorded so they could be slotted in on a slow news day and moved to another day if there had been breaking news.
Whats folks thoughts on Claire Ashforth and David Hirst? Its like the D team these days! Wont be long before the likes of Michael Billington and Matt Price are presenting the main edition. I do like John Shires' style and little titchy Gaynor!
Look North with Nicola Rees and Ian White tonight, as Ian pointed out on Twitter, it's the first time he's done it with her.
Old vintage clip of Calendar from 10 years ago shown on Calendar tonight with Duncan looking younger, of course 10 years ago it was still the same set, just bright blue in those days.
I see they are still name captioning the presenters on Calendar News, I'd like to think me mentioning it here was why it suddenly started happening again. Even name captioned 'John Shires' tonight.
David Cameron live on Calendar and Look North tonight. I wonder if he was truly live on Calendar as it's quite tight to get from one to the other in 10 mins.
Look Leeds seem to have followed the crowd by attempting to darken the newsroom background in their studio for the late news. Tonight, they've even wheeled out their old LCD screen from the 2006 set to sit behind the presenters, and they have somebody doing some camera panning/zooming.
