Maybe with the progressive passing of Advent, they're building up to the big day incrementally; twigs first, then tree, then festive graphic.....

It's definally that sort of concept on the Yorkshire weather.

They've been using the xmas graphics for a while now, today Jon Mitchell treat us to a picture of a snowman on the opening slide as well as thanking all the viewers for the Christmas cards the weather team have been sent.

Expect Jo Blythe or Kerrie Gosney to have a santa hat on tommorow and Christmas Eve

I like Ian White, he's a good newsreader.

Shame I never bought the Ulster Television 1989 ITV generic style guide off him on eBay though Sad

Any chance of Jo Blythe in a Santa outfit or is that too much for Calendar viewers to take? Wink

The GMG weather department have had different festive opening slides over the past few weeks; either with lights or holly or baubles.

Well Jo was dressed in full period attire tonight as part of tonight's Calendar Christmas Special which came live from a victorian street. It was presented by Christine Talbot and Duncan Wood both on the 2 camera OB with guests from Emmerdale and The X Factor.

Despite all this festiveness, unlike other programmes, they still managed provided a full news round up of the days news from right around the region with Frazer Maude back in the studio.

Meanwhile over on Look North, Ian White did a short item live with some carol singers in Wakefield. Christa and Harry were in the studio.

It was an unusual Calendar, especially with that dodgy camera which appeared to drain the colour from the presenters faces. The live by satellite to Colorado was a waste of satellite time really.

We got Jason McCartney on Calendar East, so it was weird that we got handed back to Fraser to do the ITN handover, we hadn't seen him up until that point.

I did wonder, but didn't Christine hand over to Frazer Maude by name right at the top of the show, or didn't East viewers see that bit.

She did, but we in the East got Jason.

That's nice, we've had the festive graphics and the slides and what have you this side of the Pennines, though I would have thought they would have altered the Granada Weather sting to make it more Christmassy!

Though if there are santa hats tomorrow it might be worth a watch.

*SHOCK HORROR* - on Look North (E. Yorks & Lincs), Peter Levy is doing the unthinkable; he is having FOUR DAYS OFF WORK!

Anyone got any smelling salts?

Unbelievable! When did he last have time off? It must have been years ago!
