Slightly strange end to the 6.30 from Leeds - Phil and Charlotte in the studio handed to Ian White at the new Leeds Arena, he introduced a VT and then closed the show from the OB.

Not sure whether that was the original plan or whether there was a timing cockup so there wasn't time to go back to the studio, but whatever, nice to see Ian presenting again.

For some reason Look Levy carried this story too, they even cover some of the Yorkshire cricket now - is this softening us up for the re-merger Very Happy

But we don't anyway? It's just one story, followed by an appalling interview or an appalling video like the Lindub thing, and then it's 5 minutes of 'banter' Partridge style between Levy and a weatherman. There is no news in this sub opt area and what there is is akin to Father Ted's "Bicycle Stolen" report.

You could say that about many other regions. I know some days you get Anger Over Unisex Changing Rooms At Cleethorpes Leisure Centre but that's regional news for you, some days are busier than others and there are plenty of big stories to talk about. Rather that than something like North West Tonight (or indeed, a pan-Yorkshire Look North) where the region is so huge that some viewers can find nothing of any relevance to them in a programme. Most of Calendar is irrelevant to me.

The rest of that post is a massive, massive exaggeration. I'm pretty certain there is no more weather "banter" than on any other regional news programme - a quick tweet at the start, a quick joke at the end - and that only way it's more noticeable here is because it's in the middle of the programme and not at the end like the others (which is of course so Paul Hudson can be on both Look Norths). Many of the other complaints about this programme in this thread seem to be a personal dislike of Peter Levy or some behind the scenes grievance which means nothing to the audience.

I'm not mad about Look North because it's a bog-standard regional news programme but I like its localness (and moving from the fringes of the North West transmission area, that was an obvious change) and I find Levy and the rest of the presentation team perfectly likeable.

There was a M62 (junction 27?) story a few months ago with Ian White doing the reporting that was also carried on Look Levy. There was no 'regional' need for it, so it was either a 'filler' (M62, Hull, that whole connection Very Happy ) or like you say, softening the audience for the return of Harry.

This was about the new scheme for using the hard shoulder as a running lane? It doesn't seem that unreasonable for a story about the motorway that starts at Hull to be featured, even if it's out of area - the whole purpose of motorways is longer distance journeys.

A number of posts have been removed to bring this back on topic. Those members must surely have realised how petty their argument was and how it contributed nothing to the topic. The desperation to have the last word seemed to stop either of them doing the decent thing and editing the nested quotes as well. Please respect those who will be reading this thread too.

I totally agree, the point being that Look Levy have always maintained that the news border stops at the other side of the Wolds which is why they are reluctant to transmit the Yorkshire Cricket scores as 'it is irrelevant to those in Lincolnshire' - their quote not mine.

I can see a few more cross 'border' stories appear i.e. sharing new reports simply to save money - Helen Thomas was HLRP in Hull before moving to Leeds she knows the set up inside out (no pun intended).

The process appears to be exactly the reverse of the mid nineties when the whole messy non-region debacle was created.

Meanwhile, it was YTV and Calendar's 45th birthday today, and it seems they marked it at the end of the show - Christine mentioning chocolate on Twitter.

Anyone catch it by any chance?

It was very low key. They went into the newsroom with a gathering of staff. They showed that clip of the royal pulling a lever to launch the station and the old 1968 ident played. Duncan had a M&S chocolate cake.

Jon was then shooed off to do the weather and that was it.

Meanwhile I think Phil & Charlotte made a good partnership on Look North last week. They worked well together.

It was surprisingly low key to be honest.

Not TV connected, but the sad news that DAB radio station Yorkshire Radio has just closed down.

Nice to Christine out on the OB tonight on Calendar, I don't think she's been on one since she returned, they usually send Duncan.
