I have to say, until that article I'd never heard of her! If I've never heard of her (I'm 21) it's likely that other people (both younger & older) won't have heard of her either.

I've said it before, personally I'd like to see Clare Frisby returning to present the main bulletin, at least people know her from Breakfast. That may mean that they are short of presenters, but surely there are other people that would like to present the Breakfast segments - I never got why Ian White was basically blacklisted from presenting.

She'd be a bit rusty surely initially?

Could you compare her with Julia Somerville? I think there was a post on either here or DS mentioning she wasnt as sharp on the NC, compared with the slower paced Network bulletins.

However Fiona Armstrong, another veteran, seems to be a lot better on the NC.

Was Fiona anywhere else beside Border, when she left GMTV?

You could also count Joanne Malin at BBC Brum, as she had been away from tv presenting for a few years after leaving Central, but she managed some radio stints at Capital Gold Birmingham, then WM.

Wouldn't Selina Scott be a bit 'cold' for Look North where warmth and quick banter is required.

I would tend to agree.

I would be amazed if they took her on a contract, surely she would not come cheap, which would be controversial given Christa's exit.

Now I could see her doing a guest week or two.

Well, the reaction will be interesting, considering from various sources, Ms Hearne has p**ssed off the Birmingham staff one way or another.

Helen Thomas (Christas' nemises ) used to be HLRP at Hull - are we to expect another night of the long knives.

The BBC cannot justify Hull any more. Today's Look North was emptier than a Islamic Pork Convention.
