It all bubbled up when they had the Look North name change debacle a few years ago. East Coast Today was the preferred choice however 'last minute' votes arrived to keep the status quo. It was a very unsavoury episode of which the lid was kept very firmly on.

Debacle indeed. I hope the voting mechanism was free or else that'd be another Daily Mail scandal in waiting. They were never going to change the name, one of the finalists was 'The Peter Levy Show' which showed how serious the competition was, I'm sure they even still shared some sort of programming with Leeds at that point as well.

Nellie from Bridlington and Joan from Brigg were very pissed off when "The Peter Levy Show" got rejected. They had already knitted him jumpers to wear.

Ironically the three areas of Yorkshire with the most in common each get a different Look North - Whitby (Newcastle), Scarborough (Leeds) and Bridlington (Hull).

The whole Look Levy affair was a complete shambles. Ego's got ahead of policy, it was impossible to verify the 'so called votes' and the process, far from being transparent, was an utter fix in the end - allegedly. But then the same could be said of other so called free and fair competitions at both ITV & The Beeb,

talking of which...

Has anyone at the BBC trust visited The Mailbox's little room where all those alleged envelopes remain unopened for a certain national competition as they hadn't got the staff to process the entries? The programme has since moved and the evidence probably destroyed (they were there last time I was) it was a scandal in the making. All this in the same building as the head of English regional programming is based - if any of the management had anything about them they would have diverted everyone including the tea lady to help open the entries. Management, What management? You know who you are.

They are obviously a bit short staffed on Look North this week due to half term.

Keeley Donovan did the lunchtime news yesterday and then was back doing the weather on LN itself and the late bulletin. I know she does both jobs, but I haven't seen it both on the same day before.

Today they'd drafted in Tom Ingall to do breakfast meaning he was able to do lunchtime as well.

Still no sign of Christa, or any explanation from the BBC. It's obvious that she's gone isn't it?

I suspect there must be a formal reason why neither side can comment given how long this has been going on.

It'll be interesting to see what they do for a replacement assuming Christa doesn't return. I suspect with her still officially employed by the BBC, the job can't be offered to anyone else at the moment. I guess Nicola Rees would be the front-runner, given she's been doing most of the cover. Personally though I found Charlotte Leeming worked better with Harry when she was on last week. They seemed to have a good chemistry together.

Maybe they'll cast their net wider though and get a new face in?

I did hear that Christa has been offered a job reading the news on a weekend programme on BBC Radio Leeds. That's according to wiki, but you know what that's like

I can't imagine Christa walking back onto the programme as if nothing has happened, now it has been going on so long.

They are still using her picture on Look North's social media accounts though.

Id have thought they'd have to get this sorted by the Great Yorkshire Show, Look North's major meet and greet OB of the year, or else it's obvious what all the questions from viewers will be.

Well if it doesnt happen this year, they are obviously hiding from Joe Public's highly sensitive questioning!

Someone on Radio Sheffield mentioned her this morning and the other two presenters gasped! If you ask anyone from the BBC where she is, you get a standard answer of "all I can do is refer you to the BBC Press Office".

I've asked them and heard nothing. This whole situation has been handled very badly by the BBC. We are the licence fee payers and the viewers and we deserve an explanation

I suspect it's not as simple as that, and that under employment law I presume whatever process is happening at the moment has to remain strictly confidential.

I don't know any background to this, but did look through some news coverage. I found the last sentence from the BBC spokesman in this DM article to be a little odd.
