Actually does anyone remember that Look Levy used to have a paper review, which used to consist of copious headlines from the Hull Daily Mail and occasionally being exotic with the Haltemprice Bugle?
They couldn't usually get anything from South of the Humber for whatever reason (no interest?).

I remember the paper review segment - however I do not remember the North Bank bias you suggest (however that happened - intentional or otherwise)
Most of the papers have gone weekly now anyway apart from BBC Hull's arch enemy the Hull & East Riding Mail.
The Mail seems to detest any opposition to its local news monopoly. It alledgedly smeared KCFM news reporting (complaining to Ofcom over licence breaches) & was the subject of a press complaints adjudication when they branded the owner of a local news and advertsing website of designing porn websites. More relevant to this matter, the paper was instrumental in having the BBC big screen removed from Hull via a campaign branding it as a waste of money.
Its now much more usefull and profitable sat in a council storage area rotting!
Perhaps the two events are connected perhaps its just co-incidence that they dropped the review around the same time.
Does anyone know of any other instances of permenant BBC screens being removed from city centres?
There used to be one of the big screens in Rotherham (about the only thing there from the 21st Century...) but it was taken down a couple of years ago.
Recently added ITV Yorkshire to my sky box and having not regularly watched Calendar since I moved to Manchester a decade a go, I must say I am actually quite impressed with the programme. A good 20 minutes + of news, good interaction with Jon Mitchell, a bit of sport and a couple of fluffy items. I'm sorry to say that it beats Granada Reports who, with a similar dense conurbations, seems to cover the news in 10 minutes. A shame, as I loved GR back when I first moved across the Pennines and it was Lucy and Anthony.

It doesn't win regional news program of the year for nothing you know..

Well Granada Tonight was even worse, about 5 minutes of news in a studio set designed like a cross between Ikea and Laura Ashley and the rest fluffy, light and not at all satisfying.
