Look North EY&L is coming from a boat on the Humber tonight. To cover the Humber Bridge tolls coming down at the start of next month.
Looks like a risk assessment has been made - Peter Levy and guests are wearing cumbersome life jackets!
Anne-Marie Tasker with news from the studio. She STILL hasn't had that baby!
The weather dwarf stayed firmly on land Apparently Levy & co. were bobbing up and down on the Humber almost all day due to the 'tides'.
A great pity that the One Show which had a feature on the Severn suspension bridge could not bear to say the name of Britains longest bridge when they mentioned it. Given the topical significance of the story of tolls, but then the East Riding isn't in Manchester or London we shouldn''t be surprised.
The opt out was a bit dodgy on last night's late bulletin. We ended up seeing the first few seconds of the News Channel feed before it cut into Look North part way through.

I noticed that as well, for a minute I thought I'd left it on the BBC News Channel!
I thought if an opt failed that they wouldn't just show the news channel, I assumed they'd be some kind of static display with an apology for an error or something (Bit like BBC 1 HD does when regional programs are on). Or that you'd get to see BBC London.
Where I am staying at the moment, I've got none other than Peter Levy on my TV. Good lord, how do the poor people of East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire put up with this man, constantly wobbling about behind the desk and taking odd in-breaths at the start of each sentence. Much prefer Christa and Harry, it's a much more naturally flowing too without the weather in the middle of the program.

The sustaining arrangements changed when BBC One HD launched. While BBC London is still on the feed during breakfast and 1500 opts, the News channel 'airs' at 1330, 1830 and 2225 (though HD itself cuts to a caption and all regions should opt out, meaning the News channel doesn't air at all). If any region fails to opt the News Channel is carried instead. That was decreed to be more sensible by someone - especially after a Reporting Scotland failed to air and Glasgow pres was evacuated too, meaning BBC London went out up there. However while this was a bit odd, having the News Channnel air in a regional slot when Southampton and Oxford suffered a major system failure a couple of months back, was also felt to be slightly wrong. It's a difficult one.
I think I'd prefer the 'wrong' region, viewers will be able to work out what has happened, if the news channel appears people will think they've got the wrong channel on, or if they weren't paying attention and missed the opt out gap they will wonder why a different bloke is suddenly doing the Ten. The news channel would just cut off mid sentence at 10:35 wouldn't it?
Calendar obviously do the 5:55pm teaser live as half way through tonights the picture of Sheffield changed to colour bars!
Philip Avery has just done the weather for Look North Leeds.
Then we went to the national weather where Darren Bett had already started.
Assuming because they had some issues showing the weather during the bulletin.
