Is that Georgey Spanswick from The Wide Awake Club?

yep, via Calendar

She only started presenting because of the big TVam strike and they had no-one else to fill the slot

Anyway, it's not all doom and gloom for Look North; from the Plain English Campaign's website:

Quote:
Media awards

Our judges consider how well entrants have used plain English, and how successfully and passionately they have fought gobbledygook.

These are the winners for 2004.

Best Regional Television: BBC Look North (Yorkshire edition)

This is the first time the same programme has won this award two years in a row , and for good reason. Our judges thought the programme's staff did the best job at performing the 'magic trick' of television news: speaking in a style that sounds like natural conversation, but giving clear, logically-organised and concise information that few of us manage in everyday chat. The writers also showed how words and pictures should be used in combination, and avoided the common (and irritating) mistake of simply telling the viewer what they were seeing.

Well done Look North!

Look North decided to stop the 'lets pretend it is live' game tonight and linked into interviews with 'such and such a person spoke to us earlier'.

Meanwhile, in a rare occurance, tonight's Calendar was presented by Nicola Crompton.

Big it up for Alex Hall's Late Show!! I now have Radio Leeds care of internet streaming and she's a good presenter! Better than the Midlands equivalent!

Did any Yorkshire Look North viewers see tonight's cock up on the late news? Ian White went into his second news story about train officers having abuse thrown at them by angry passengers. However, when the controllers cut to the report, the Look North title and graphics, always shown at the beginning of the bulletins, came up instead - with no audio. Ian apologised for the error and we saw the full report a few minutes later.

And then crashed into the national weather - which was appalling, I'd only tuned in at the end to see the national headlines... surely they can't just decide to overrun and cut them.

Indeed. I'd only tuned in at 10.30 so I wondered what was going on, I hadn't seen the earlier cockup.

11 weeks later and the technical difficulties seem to be getting worse as the time goes on. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at those Look North production meetings
