yes maybe, or maybe she is bound to fill her duties and had to do the weekend news, or others are off for half term and she agreed to fill in? Sad news though Jimmy was a character

No, Christa never does the weekend news - and Nicola Rees said she was doing the weekend evening news on Twitter. To be honest I don't think she'll have been best pleased!

Bit much 'pulling rank' if that's the case?

It's bit like the NC presenters not being good enough for BBC One, but at a local level!

Is the edition of Calendar on ITV1+1 shown at 7pm the same whichever part of the region you are in? I am sure I read that no sub regions of ITV1+1 (or is that ITVHD?).

The one tonight was certainly the South/East sub region here in Lincoln (which it would be at 6 of course)

Never mind sub-regions, we're treated to Yorkshire on +1 and Granada on HD here in Tyne Tees and Border.

So in answer to your question, yes I assume its the same opt every night regardless of your location.

Surprised it's the South/East region on that basis. Unless it's whichever sub region is shown live, which I believe can vary.?

Kate Walby on the Daybreak bulletins this morning - thought she was a bit senior for that? She normally does the main programme on Fridays anyway.

Keeley Donovan did Lunchtime Look North today. This lead to the strange situation of Keeley having to hand over to Paul to do the weather when she could have done it herself!

We have that on a Sunday in MT land when Shefali(the Monday to Thursday evening weather presenter) will hand over to Ben (the relief/weekend weather presenter).

I didn't see tonight's Leeds Look North but it sounds like Mr Cock-up was in attendance, according to LN's Facebook

Technical problems!
Sincere apologies if two technical problems affected your enjoyment of Look North at 6.30 tonight. A last minute problem with our outside broadcast vehicle in Sheffield meant Tom Ingall couldn't broadcast live from the Crucible Theatre, although we did manage to bring you his report on the theatre's 40th birthday. And a separate problem with our vehicle in Leeds meant Christa couldn't hear our director back at base, and we 'crashed' the end of the programme. Very sorry- the perils of outside broadcasts! Hopefully all will be better tomorrow.

Christa was closing the programme on the OB outside the Queens Hotel saying we will now end with pictures of Sir Jimmy Saville. In reality we saw pictures of the Look North endcap.

Christa carried on talking closing the programme when the pictures had changed to the networked trailer, which we then joined in sound as well as in vision half way through.

It was nicely done though, it would have been worse if they'd just cut her off.

In a related matter, Amanda Harper was on the same OB this morning during Breakfast with Clare in the studio as normal, it's the first time I've seen a live report/OB on the Breakfast bulletins.

I saw Christa in Leeds while going for my train this evening! Laughing

Wish I had stayed for a bit longer now to see the coffin being carried out
