I understand that. I just don't understand the connection - it just seemed a bit random. Why not John Craven and Fatima Whitbread throwing javelins up Briggate?
I think it was to appeal to the over 75s who qualify for the help scheme.

They've just repeated the same irrelevant point about Bilsdale, despite my email pointing it out.
And only given half the story about relay transmitters (they will only have the PSB channels) ignoring the fact (again, that I pointed out) that if you're patiently waiting for DSO and 30 channels you might as well get FreeSat or a new aerial pointing at Emley now.
I give up.
Nicely researched item on Digital Switch Over from Look North - helpfully telling us that the Emley Moor transmitter which serves West and South Yorkshire switches in 2011, and Bilsdale, which serves North Yorkshire is the year after.
Except Bilsdale transmits the Geordie flavour of Look North...

Some strike news regarding Local Radio.
Bob Walmsley did the BBC Radio Leeds breakfast show in for Martin Kelner and Katherine Hannah.
Dominic Busby did Drivetime instead of Andrew Edwards
News bulletins were at the top of the hour only and were 'BBC Yorkshire News' simulcast on all the area's local radio stations.

That is annoying, when you know more than them, you try to help them & they still ignore you!

Apparantly Dean Peppall's BBC Radio Sheffield newshour was simulcast at 5pm on Leeds & York and the sport programme at 6pm is also simulcast
It seems Radio Sheffield are taking the lead across BBC Yorkshire radio today as apparantly the news bulletins were done from there also.
5.00 Howard Pressman (continuing the simulcast until 7am with no proper travel news, normally it continues on Sheffield only after 6am)
7.00 Bob Walmsley (An hour later than usual)
10.00 Alex Belfield (An hour later than usual and simulcast across Leeds, York & Sheffield - what a delight for those in York & Sheffield!)
14.00 One on One with Liz Green (repeat)
15.00 Dominic Busby
17.00 Dean Peppall (simulcast)
18.00 Football Heaven (simulcast)
During the simulcasting, joint travel news bulletins had to be provided so it proves the strike effects services that are not directly on strike. They did have all the correct 'across Yorkshire' jingles though, I presume used for the Night network.

It seems BBC Radio Humberside have been trying to do their own thing from what I heard?
Didn't start up until 7am this morning, with Simon Pattern (the Managing Editor).
BBC Lincolnshire seems to have continued pretty unaffected

And for completeness - here is the lower key (and appearing less disruptive) action at Lincoln

Kelner doesn't do Fridays - usually Adam Pope. Bob W usually does Friday Drivetime.

I was surprised that Sheffield were doing a lot of the networked stuff - given that Radio York are camping out at Leeds I thought they'd have been well placed to do a joint effort, although I guess the efforts of the Leeds newsroom might have been directed into Look North.
On the Look North front, North East & Cumbria were taking the programmes from Leeds, which included some news from the North East - surprised that Paul's weather forecast didn't cover the NE too.
