The election debate came from Immingham

Seems a bit odd they are going pan-regional this time

Indeed, I was invited to be in the audience - about three hours before they recorded it. I suppose the small size of Hull's staffing, budget and region means that they can only do a very small number of their own shows, and the topic this time is sufficiently broad enough to do a pan-regional affair.

EDIT: That said, though, half of the region isn't in Yorkshire and The Humber, it'd be the East Midlands.

The election was probably more forseeable and that programme worked into the budgets well in advance; this is a reaction to circumstances, so probably probably hadn't been budgeted for.

As far as government spending is concerned, 'Yorkshire and The Humber' is treated as one region, so I guess it makes sense to have the one programme.

Fair enough - but that doesn't work well for the vast area of Lincolnshire - which is of course "East Midlands" for the purpose of Govt.

Dunno if anyone noticed but Hull did indeed get its own debate, from Hull City Hall and presented by Tim Iredale. So problem solved.

Good production values on both programmes - although Hull's venue was very echoey. Looks like they used an external OB company, whose name BBC Hull don't know how to spell Laughing

BTW: Did anyone else spot several of ITV Yorkshire's "Last Orders" regulars on Harry's Leeds Spending Review Programme?
Called Dick, Julie and Raj if memory serves me correct.

Did Last Orders used to have a different format then? Last time I watched it was John Stapleton and three politicians in a London studio

Yes. Still used Westminster studio with Michael Brown - a former MP chairing who threw to political editor at ITV Yorkshire's bar, who discussed a political subject of the day/week with a groupf of about 10-12 regulars. The London element then debated the topic.

Apparently it's a new studio at Westminster, if this tweet from Jason McCartney, MP for Colne Valley, ex Calendar presenter is anything to go by

I notice that David James off of the radio travel news was actually doing a show on BBC Tees this morning. Is that normal?

Do I assume that he actually does the Radio Leeds/York etc travel news from the BBC Tees studios every day, rather than being in Manchester?
