This may not be new news but first time I've seen her - Tanya Arnold doing the sport on BBC News channel right now.
I guess they're probably a bit short of sports people at the moment with so many being in South Africa, so probably drafted her in. Good for her though to get some national exposure.
Indeed - she was very good yesterday I thought, already chatting easily with the presenters.
And dare I say that Look North is far better when she's presenting than Christa...
Obviously more than a one-off shift. Tanya was doing the live reports from Wimbledon this morning on Breakfast - quite a high-profile gig!
This isn't her first network outing - she fronted live coverage of Rugby League when Claire Balding was ill, and of course the Superleague Show gets a national repeat (albeit at stupid o'clock)
Indeed, now the whole of the UK can ask 'You know that women's voice?' like we in the North did years ago.
Curiously, her voice is actually very similar to Chris Hollins', who would probably otherwise have been doing the Wimbledon links had he not been in South Africa.
A bit off topic but there are a lot of knowledgeable people here, BBC Radio Leeds & York travel presenter David James, why does he use a different surname on BBC Tees?
Kate Webster was looking like she has fallen asleep for a week in the sun on the late Calendar News last night! A colour that lobsters can only dream of...

Quite a few of the Trafficlink broadcasters use alternative surnames when they're doing bulletins on both BBC and commercial stations in one area. It may be that the BBC in Yorkshire didn't want to appear to have the same travel presenter as the opposition, and so he changed it. IIRC Dave Llewellyn is his real name.
Just sounds a bit crap when you're listening to Radio 1 and the RDS cuts in and it's David James on Radio York. Then a few minutes later Dave Llewellyn pops up on BBC Tees.
Especially now they all have similar travel beds and with the invariable late firing of the TA signal so you don't hear the jingle.
Also confuses the presenters who have shifts on a few stations - James Watt was doing weekdays at Tees and Saturdays at York, heard him introduce Dave/David by the wrong name on York and try to laugh it off.
